Patrick Cannon How Far Will He Fall?

Hope he falls far. There isn't any excuse for what he did. As for all the "prayers" people are pushing his way, SERIOUSLY? He is yet another corrupt politician and doesn't deserve them. As for his family, it would appear that his wife had a pretty good idea what he was up to. But if I were to send some prayers that way it would be for his children, this will be tough for them and they don't deserve this...but he deserves everything coming to him.
Cannon a fatherless child became an American success story but the Feds will take it all. The fall will be rapid and stunning but the media will soon move on after his bones are picked clean.
Whose toes did Cannon step on? At what point did they target Cannon and why?
Who on Council knew and who turned a blind eye?
The resources expended to develop this case had to be in the six figures so who at the department of justice approved this?
Seems like a really small fish, who talked a big game but was hardly in a position to make a difference considering the entire council would approve any development project without question.
All I see is a lapse in judgment, a hubris fool, trusting of someone he doesn't know.
What else was he doing? Who else was being targeted?
Who else on Charlotte City Council is dirty?
Did certain Council members not seek re-election because they knew of this investigation and sting operation?
And finally will this eventually led to a complete overhaul of the Charlotte Mecklenburg government from the top down?
Certainly gives the South Charlotte separatists a springboard.
The light has not been shined upon the cockroaches that run this city, and steal the taxpayuers money. I imagine Pete Pappas is laywering up this AM after the announcemnet that the Metropolitan was built under these type of dealings. No wonder such a big push to build this free trolley, with no menas to support it other than property taxes. And where has Roy Cooper been since 2010?? How many felons in Govco have passed thru since he became AG of NC? Not sure I'd want to be Anthony Foxx this AM either.... Welcome to Detroit, southern style.
Everyone knows this monkey swings both ways. Feds gave him an apartment and you just know they have him on video bringing one of his boytoys over for some R&R.
Who did Cannon think he was? Robert Pittenger or David Hoyle and their private toll road to nowhere?? Hopefully the FBI is looking into this shady land deal and graft as well.
He really wanted a key to that apartment. I can only wonder what went on behind closed doors while he thought he was all alone. Video and Audio tell no lie. Tip of the iceberg for sure.
Everyone on the radio yesterday was pondering why he would ruin his career for 50k. I don't think it occurs to them that the 50k is what the FBI can prove, and that he has been taking money from all sides..

But I would think that this might be a hard case to prove, since he has absolutely no chits to offer, no one to force or compel to skirt the law since he is powerless.
You can bet this is just the tip of the iceberg. The weakest is usually the first to be targeted. They will roll to save themselves. There are many in Charlotte who are scrambling today.....from the PD to the FD to many others in city and state government. The FBI has cast a wide net on this one I believe. What 11:31 said.....One news station is reporting that yesterday at noon, Cannon received a VERY LARGE cash payment and was subsequently arrested. This LARGE sum was not in the original paperwork (because it happened yesterday). I have a feeling, Cannon got that large sum yesterday that he asked for...............and then got to try out the FBI bracelets! He is done, glad of it. Hope more follow. You would have to be a fool to believe he wasn't taking cash bribes/gifts from MANY others during this time. Believe this, the FBI does not play, they got their s$$t together.

Funny how his corruption brain takes him all the way to the White House. Don't get me wrong, I do not think the President knew of any of his dealing but this certainly is a nice blueprint to the friendships. The Governor, Anthony Fox, Eric Holder, the Rodney, Runcho, the Prez. Great group of characters. This City is rotten to the core. There is no doubt that Rodney is involved somewhere with the POS in the past few years.
Does anyone think Cannon is alone in this? Rodney Monroe has used his influence and power from the day he arrived in Charlotte...getting the job by lying about his degree. And getting people fired from VCU because he used his influence and power to get them to "go along". He and Cannon seem to be two peas in a pod. Rodney has abused his position in so many ways it would be hard to know where to begin. One good place would be his use of Federal Grants. His influence on awarding contracts to companies with personal ties. So much quid pro quo.....so much abuse of power. He and Ray set the tone of corruption, nepotism, influence peddleing, pandering, bullying, intimidation from day one....pattern and practice. As with Cannon, people are not listening.....maybe now they will.
