CMPD Crime Scene Investigator Shot?

And yet no coverage in the local paper or by the local television news. Seems just a little odd, don't you think?

Updated 5:48 PM Tuesday

Sources tell Cedar Posts that late Friday night, at approximately 10:20PM, CMPD crime scene investigator Roy D. Patterson pulled into the driveway of his Driftwood Drive home off Albemarle Road shortly after completing his shift and was shot by a neighbor with a high caliber rifle.

The neighbor who shot Patterson has been identified as James Dearmon Whitley age 49 of 3601 Driftwood Drive. He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury and assault in a secret manner.

Patterson's injuries are reported as serious but non-life threatening.

According to neighbors the suspect is a nut case who has lived in the neighborhood since 1975 and had threatened Patterson repeatedly over a period of several months. Whitley is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail under $150,000 bond.

With the significant event log gone from the CMPD web site as well as calls for service this is just news lost in the madness of a Super Bowl weekend.

But apparently WCNC knew a CMPD employee had been shot, but were told by CMPD that it was only a "BB" gun so in other words a "non-event". Yet the "non-event" was high profile enough to warrant a internal CMPD memo. Cedar posts is wondering why WCNC just rolled over?

According to sources who live in the neighborhood there was not a large police response and no members of the CMPD command staff where on scene after the shooting.

Cedar's sources also report that Patterson is still in the hospital after being shot in the pelvic area. So "pelvic" area combined with questions about the nut case neighbor leads to the next question, was this a "hate crime" if so why the cover-up?

Update 7:52: The "local paper" finally reports some of the facts here.

CMPD Vice Unit Prostitution Sting

Undercover CMPD's Boulevard Bait was looking fine as Vice Officers worked the streets Friday and Saturday. The list of creeps looking to buy some cheap and quick attention is long and pretty repulsive. I'll let the "Local Paper" print photos of the dirty dozen.

Follow-up to the Jemimah Blow story from several weeks ago:

The shake up at the North Division continues with Response Area 3 Commander (RAC) Jeremiah Blow being "demoted" and transferred to Eastway Division. North Division's Captain Gregg Collins has been transferred as well, he will now work the Freedom Division.

Captain Ceil Brisbon has assumed responsibility of the North Division and sergeant Brady was brought in from the University City Division.

Reason's for the shake up are not clear but Cedar Posts will guess it has a lot to do with Blow. The details are here.

The guys at Eastway should be excited to have Officer Blow looking after their backside, don't you think?

Cedar check your sources. I can't find anything about a shooting on Friday.

It kind of reminds me of the Catholic Church, just move him around and he becomes the problem of someone else.

Don't worry, Blow will screw up again, and from what I have heard, it won't be long. And it will be an even bigger screw up next time!!
Why has he continuously been "protected"??? He is a loose canon and a ticking time bomb!! As he has proven over and over again.

He should not be on CMPD, period!!

Yes, there was a shooting involving a crime scene investigator being shot by his neighbor on Friday night.

I question the demotion from RAC to Line SGT? That really isnt a demotion is it? Maybe financially? I would think demotion to patrol officer would be more fitting.

If the shooting of the CSI person with a real gun, not a bb gun, really happened, then this is a perfect time to expose rodney and his non crime reporting command staff.

Cedar I don't know if this helps or not, but Roy has endured many run-ins with his psycho neighbor.

Nothing surprises me under the Monroe regime.....he is as disgusting as the so called potus! (Notice I didn'at say "our" potus, cuz he represents NOTHING for me)

So what the hell is RoMo hiding this time? What is he covering up?

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but the Significant Events / Calls for Service log needs to be put back on line. This is *exactly* the kind of thing it is used for. I want to know what's going on in the neighborhood. Shouldn't this sort of thing be pubic info?

DWright,

I concur.

The significant event log will never return too much information that the department will have to deal with and not be able to put a spin on it fast enough.

Oh no they have made strides to keep the community aware- I went to their website last night looking for B&E'S..you can search their maps 1000 ft, .25 miles.5 miles at a time . Trying to navigate through the steps is a joke...you can search but just around immediate areas at one time and they give you no information other than the block range and what type of call it was ...great way to hide the truth for Meck co citizens...
