Friday's Odd's and Ends

City of Charlotte Clown Curt Walton - Is under fire for giving big raises to his executive staff and for being a jerk when asked about it.

According to Channel 9 WSOC News, each city department was given enough money to give all employees a 2 percent raise. Supervisors could give some workers up to 8 percent as long as that's offset by giving others less.

But not a single one of the city's top 21 managers, whose raises are decided by Walton, got less than 2 percent. In fact, 16 of them -- nearly 75 percent of Walton's executive team -- got more, including 6 percent for airport director Jerry Orr, whose base salary is now $211,000.

In an e-mail, Walton declined Channel 9’s request for an interview, saying “I'm not going to discuss, on camera or off, something that happened five months ago.” … “It's time to move on with current issues.”

Cedar's Take: Really nice PR skills there Mr. Walton. When you talk to the media you are talking to the tax payers and we don't like your hubris, surly attitude and neither do the police and firefighters who received raises that didn't even match inflation.

The People's Convention - Big news "The People's Convention" is coming to Charlotte. I wish that whoever came up with that idea would have taken the time to look it up, just google "The People's Convention.

Back in 1940-1941 The People's Convention was a "people's government" that was proposed by communist elements in the United Kingdom. Its advocates attempted to persuade Labour Party and trade union members that the current government was solely for the rich and was dominated by those who through appeasement had "caused" the Second World War, who opposed the Soviet Union, and who were profiteering from the war.

Its literature did not, however, explicitly state that it was communist-backed.

Keith Larson Asks - Does Rodney Monroe know how to ride a horse? Because you can't have a convention without police officers on horse back. Wonder if Chief Monroe could train on a virtual horse much like he has a virtual degree?

Fergie Flyin First Class - Oh to be a "Rockstar" winging your way to Dallas for Superbowl XLV well at least Cedar has his Ray-Bans.

What to do in Charlotte - With the 2012 Democratic National Convention coming to town the "Local Paper" wants you to know there is "plenty to do" while you're attending "The People's Convention" hold on to your Budweiser hats this is going to be one hell of a fun time.

The People's Convention? OMG! But wait why would you be surprised? The entire Obama show is Hope and Change 2012 will be how the GOP stole the change.

I think its a dumb name People's Covention, just sounds dumb, as if they was a fish convention, or Bear's Convention.

So either they knew of he 1940's movement and "People's Convention" and figured oh what the hey or they didn't bother the check it out.

It's like the developer who built the condos on Sharon Road and wanted to give them an English sounding name, he figured Sharon Mews would be great. Mews at term the brits use for garage.

Or the builder who mistakenly name a development after a famous New Orleans drag queen.

Just dumb name nothing the past history and I could care less where Obama was born.

My thinking Glen Beck is way out there and Jon Stuart he's a ding dong.

Jealousy does not become you....by the way most crackheads don't care about either party, only the one that severs their drug of choice....which is usually brought to you by liberals....

Cedar,
Now that Charlotte has the DNC, just wait for rodney to start passing out the "primo" jobs to his buddies.

It will make NO difference, from what I am told, if you are qualified, if you have worked hard, if you deserve anything.

Watch this closely, it will be his yesmen and butt kissers that are chosen to have the glory jobs.

This is going to be a three ring circus!!! One HUGE Boondoggle!!!
