South Charlotte Weekly Censors Cedar Posts

Back on February 1, 2011 Cedar Posts wrote a commentary critical of the South Charlotte Weekly's Mark Parks' promotion of CMPD's South Division. Parks' rah rah pom pom feast included numbers that were fluffed up to show a huge reduction of crime in South Charlotte.

Apparently Mr. Parks didn't like Cedar Posts analysis of his CMPD cheer-leading and filed a complaint with Google about the Cedar Posts blog.

Google removed the posted material based on Mr. Parks' complaint of copyright infringement, despite the fact that Cedar Posts gave clear credit for the material written by Mr. Parks, and my thinking that the use of the content is protected by the U.S. fair use doctrine.

Frankly the entire point was that Mr. Parks' spin on the CMPD numbers was erroneous and therefore the post would only make sense if I give full credit for his work.

That said, Cedar Posts has elected to leave the post off the blog and all future reference to the South Charlotte Weekly will be limited to "That Wet Thing In The Driveway" or the hamster cage liner.

Honestly I thought I was doing the "The Wet Thing In The Driveway" a favor by even including a link to the paper's home page.

So much for playing nice.

Cedar that's pretty funny. I was wondering happened to that post and my comment as well as the comments of everyone else.

You're right it's gone, been gone since the first of this month.

I don't know of anyone who reads the wet thing in the driveway. I thought is was part of the Observer.

Anyway jokes on the Park guy since its still out there, cached.

Ah yes, Mark Parks. Parks is one of the many minions of the Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him). Anything that comes out of the Apostle Rodney Monroe’s (peace and blessings be upon him) mouth is a golden nugget worthy of media attention. Parks, much like the fool Dulin, suckles at the nipple of the Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him). Both dare not question the numbers, or the decision making made by the Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him). His decisions are always right, just and above reproach.

Speaking of the media dogs who chose to question the Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him), media minx Tara Servatius, has abandoned her loyalty him. One can only surmise that she was paid hush money by the dogs who only wish to defame and smear the Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him). The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) stands ready, ever vigilant.

Cedar I am with you 100% on this one. I read your post on the South Charlotte numbers and while I don't always agree with you it was clear Parks was paid by CMPD for the cheerleading.

I'm not sure what the agenda was but it sure does look like you stepped on his toes.

I'm surprised he didn't email you first.

Like you I don't see what the guy's issue with your blog is, you always give credit, often with a link to read the rest of the story.

A note to Parks: Grown up man, attacking the Cedar Posts blog won't earn you any friends or readers.

A note to Cedar: Why don't you hit Parks in the wallet if your counter is right you get about 500 hits a day and that's at least as good as the SSW, I mean wet thing in the driveway.

You should go after his ads. Cut a deal and zap his business. Play dirty with playing dirty.

Cedar Posts I read the cached post via the link on the 10:41 comment, and you stole the man's story and posted it to your blog, that is a copyright violation. So cry about it yourself but you are wrong.

It is obvious you don't know much about copyright and infringement
...but just goes to what you lack....

I read the post and can find nothing that looks like copyright violation to me.

I think Parks just didn't agree with Cedar and elected to try to get the post blocked via google.

CMPD has been 'spinning' the crime numbers since Chief Rodney Monroe took office.

Prior to Monroe, Chief Stephens was trying to develop a good relationship with the media & providing crime information to the public... Remember the '911 Calls for Service' feature on the CMPD website or the 'Significant Event Log'?? Both are GONE.

Why? Because people started tracking the daily crime numbers and they never seemed to add up at the end of the month?!

Just one example: Chief Monroe will have his Officers investigate 10 break-ins and put it down as ONE incident. Same goes for the rest. No wonder crime stats are down...

He can't hide the rape numbers nor homicide numbers, however, we have to keep in mind the advances in technology and the amount of time 'Medic' must work on a patient before declaring them.

Keep up the great work, Cedar!!!!
