CMPD Promotion Revoked At The Last Minute

A week ago CMPD Captain Allen Rutledge was named as one of four captains who were to be promoted to the rank of major today.

However during today's ceremony he was noticeably absent, and wasn't mentioned during the event.

Cedar Posts is now hearing that Captain Rutledge may have tried covered up a recent out of county auto accident that happened to one of his officers while driving a "take home" CMPD patrol car.  Apparently Rutledge tried to get one of his LT's to take care of the situation and make it "go away" but the LT wouldn't so it seems he found someone else to help out and proceeded with the cover up.

When word got out, (CP assumes someone snitched to IA), Rutledge was called on the carpet by a Deputy Chief as the water cooler talk says. When confronted about the cover up Rutledge apparently, lied about it to the Deputy Chief.

The decision to yank his promotion was apparently made less than an hour before the ceremony was held, with his family already in the audience.

So if all of the above is true Rutledge is in deep sewage, as is the driver of the patrol car that was outside of the county, or 45 miles in some cases. The LT who apparently falsified a report and whoever else was in on the "fix" and the list could fall into the criminal area as well.

As usual nothing but crickets from CMPD PIO's.

Just another "major" screwup.....caused by the lack of integrity, honesty and ethics that comes from the very top.

Everyone sees what has gone on and continues to go on with regards to coverups, lies and dysfunction from the ones supposedly "leading" CMPD. Monroe has created an environment of corruption, so what does anyone expect?

With few exceptions, people have not stood up to the "coercion by bullying" from Rodney and his gang. They actually encourage this leading by screaming and intimidation, and promote those assholes that conduct themselves in this despicable, unprofessional manner. All the while patting themselves on the back for being such good, pious people.....

How most live with themselves is beyond comprehension.

Another cover up. Will this Capt be fired for lying?

Someone should look into another Captain, M.S., that was promoted to Major.

Seems they are not conducting their "due diligence" as they should.

Rutledge is an ass. He gives new meaning to stupid. Most the guys I would feel pretty bad about this ort of thing going down, not This guy.

I am starting to think someone ok'd this promotion and someone spoke up. Haven't heard when this accident happened.

The citizens of Charlotte have no idea of the incompetence, lack of leadership and lack of supervision that resides within CMPD. The lack of these key department components breeds corruption and incompetence in times of major events or time of crisis.
Let’s pray nothing major happens!

Rutledge is an ass, extremely full of himself. His crap stinks after all.

What are you saying Smathers did?
Why say it and not say it? If it's true, just say the truth. There's no law against telling the truth, civil or criminal. As officers, you're required to speak up if you know something preventing effective command or fitness for duty or failure to meet the ethical codes.

If you CMPD officers will stand up collectively and start giving names and incident dates then heads will roll. The news will then have facts to report and investigate. As long as you hold back nothing will change.
The question now is, was there a false police report filed and was there a cover up. Now, if so, will these officers be sent to CSB, They have violated the law. If you can send an officer to CSB for not helping a citizen enough surely you can send officers to CSB for violating state laws.

What happened? Mike Smathers was an ok guy when he was a patrolman and a Sgt.

What's the deal with Rutledge? Is this a legit screwup or is he just in this mess by default?

Since the ‘big boys’ took over at CDIA, the Airport Police Officers have had a mentoring agency to finally look up to. Our vehicle stops associated with sexual assaults has declined, as well as, oral sex at pizza parlors, countless domestic violence’s, lying cheat and cover ups, oh wait…oh it’s coming back to me now…that was CMPD.

This should be proof that since ROMO took over CMPD. That the integrity within the department from him all the way down to the lower subordinates, has hit a all time low. The whole department is nothing but a PIECE OF SHIT!!!

1155; we first have to see where it is you are coming from. Either you are a disgruntled employee or just some douche out here pissed off over some lame traffic ticket or other negative encounter with Officer Friendly

If the former then it might be time to quit and find employment else where. What is the point coming to work every day and being miserable and angry?

If you are the latter then my suggestion would actually be a physical impossibility.

Fact is you don't need to be either a disgruntled officer, or a citizen with a traffic ticket to see that CMPD is rotten to the core.

You do have to be blind however not to see the corrupt nature of Rodney Monroe that flows from the too down to rank and file.

How the hell Rutledge ever got considered much less promoted is a joke. He has always been an idiot and was promoted way above his competence level to begin with.. If these allegations are true then no reason he should not be terminated.. If he outright lied he needs to be fired. Atkins while a loose nut also at least owned up to his involvement and he was terminated.

I understand Marcus Jackson, there are some bad apples, both Adkins and Rutledge are not rookie officers these guys are senior ranking cops in charge of a large numbers of guys with guns.

I am not feeling really comfortable about this.

The outcome will be entirely based on how "in favor" Rutledge is with Graue and the Chief.

The chief will tell IA the outcome he wants, and he will get it.

Adkins was out of favor and you see what happened to him.

And Adkins used bad judgment but TOLD THE TRUTH.

Rutledge LIED TO A DEPUTY CHIEF AND OTHERS AND TOLD HIS SUBORDINATES TO LIE and cover up.

Now everyone knows what the outcome SHOULD be, but there are no Directives any more, no rules, no level playing field, no Standard Operating Procedures.

It seems you can threaten your ex wife and friend with your service gun while in uniform and be found guilty and keep your job and paycheck.... So who knows what the
Outcome will be.

The Chief only knows.... He will tell IA what to do, what outcome he wants!

NOPE he wasn't,..I guess the integrity part of the job only applies to us grunts that actually do the work..since most of command staff has no clue what police work consist.

I work for CMPD for eight years and after going out to help a friend that had a motorcycle wreck. I was called in to IA and that I was to be cited for term action. Because of two guy who had been drinking thought I was trying to get him out of it. When I tried to show the major of the IA board the letter he refused to see it. I then requested a civil service hearing which they kept butting off until six months hd went by. I resigned. I wish I would have waited. I miss the guys. Someone might want to look up how many accident the Chief has been in in the city car. Look and see if he has HDTV to do any extra drivers training.
