CMPD'S Westover Division Is Killing Me

I'm all for a new idea or two but this sign is just stupid.

First it gives the impression that this area which I happen to be a property owner is "da hood" it is not! For your safety? Seriously? What is next "ShotSpotter"? Has there been an explosion of rapes and murders in the area? Sure gives that impression.

Second I'm sure some Captain thinks this a good way to let the public know "we are on the job". D'oh! It gives the totally wrong impression that police are spread too thin to have real boots on the street.

Let us assume that the hood rats and mofo's can read, sure they take notice, look around and go on about looking for a crime of opportunity. Signs will do nothing to prevent crime and in this case they simply give the perception that crime in this area is out of control. And the night crawlers could care less.

Which makes is really hard to say the Selwyn Farms is a nice quiet safe community. Of course since we don't have access to real crime stats how would we know? Sure looks mighty ominous.

Who would want to rent a home or apartment in an area with this sign on every corner?

Agreed. And nearly everyone glossed over the fact that rapes are up 18% -- even what Monroe will admit to. STILL no access to real crime statistics, but they will put up crap like this. Why?

Doesn't this violate sign ordinances also? Maybe you should report the CMPD and see if they pay a fine per day.

Many fine individuals in the department. Leadership and many individuals are a joke. Too bad for everyone.

I wonder if you as the owner of rental property can sue the department for damages, then ask that they award treble that under NC law?

Please . Cry me a river. That's a lot of whining going on .
Put on your big girl pants and deal with it !

To Anon 9:08....LOL..what?? kinda like George Zimmerman did?
And, yes, not only does the sign violate the city's ordinance but someone should check on who has the contract to print such nonsense...one can assume this company is "well connected".

I live in Metro division. When I think the policing in my area is bad (or sometimes non existent), I ride past the Westover division's office @ West Blvd and Remount Rd. At any given hour of the day there are hookers, drug dealers hanging out on the street corner and adjacent businesses and the police officers just cruise by on their way back to the office. If they can't keep the area around their headquarters cleaned up, do you think they give a damn to try in your neighborhood? You'd think embarrassment would at least have them working to clean up the headquarters. Also, there always seems to be no shortage of officers pulling into that office. One would think they should be out patrolling. I'm guessing if I rode by Metro's office I'd see the same thing as they are never patrolling our neighborhood and barely tap the brakes as they ride by after you place a call for service.

It's probably the brain child of that lazy female officer who was at my community meeting the other week. I live in this neighborhood and she has yet to give me or any of my neighbors a straight answer to any of my questions during a community meeting. She's nice to look at but doesn't seem very bright. I thinks it's Officer Schnapps or Schwepps or something like that. I'm with Anon 10:10, smoke and mirrors...

Go away Rob, you are truly a moron.

The whole PD "leadership" is a joke.

Cronyism, lying, covering up, racism/favoritism,
misrepresentation, rewards based on ass kissing,
Lying about everything, misappropriating money,
Awarding contracts based on personal relationships,
Punishments based on grudges, .....

Once again, Rodney and his crew have totally and completely fucked up what was once a well respected and honest police department with now NO oversight and have given a corrupt Chief carte blanche
to do exactly as he pleases with NO transparency.

Westover is a joke. Ride by their headquarters anytime of day and there are hookers, drug dealers and panhandlers hanging out all around. You would think some sensee of pride would have them at least clean up the area around their division office but they don't seem to notice as they pull in and out. If they care that little about criminal activity in front of home base, do you think they give a damn about your neighborhood? Also, I can't go by there without at least one patrol car pulling in. Shouldn't they be out patrolling instead of hanging out at headquarters?

Hey where are all those indictments that are never coming?
It is always entertaining to hear the whiners come out on droves on this blog. Smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors ..... Ha!

Schwartz! That's her name!

LOL....you wanna talk about a joke of an officer....Sit down with Schwartz (Schnapps was actually a better choice) for 5 minutes and try to make any sense of what she is saying. She is only where she is because of the ass of a new sergeant she is kissing and the reputation she gained from the brass she has slept with. God Bless America....she will be a captain one day.

10:06 -- I don't disagree with your REAL point but, really? You're bringing George Zimmerman's name into this?? Why?? Hardly equivalent circumstances.

Cedar,

Bank of America just sent me a check for $0.02. This was interest for sitting on my insurance claim payment for 2 months. I almost threw it away, but I think I might like to cash it in the most annoying way possible. Any suggestions?

2:33 - I'd show up at a branch and ask if they would mind sending your funds via bank wire to your new bank.

Or you could just hold the check until it goes stale then go to a branch to cash it.

It will take a manager intervention but you can ask to borrow an office while you wait for them to sort it out.

Then ask for a cup of coffee "easy on the sugar heavy on the cream", telling them you'll be awhile then close the door, opening just long enough to ask if anyone knows the country code for Australia, announcing you'd like to call Auckland and talk to your "mates" down under.

Finally with phone in hand, lean back in the chair, kick your shoes off and settle in.

You'll be in for a long wait, as it will take no less than a teller, a CSR, a branch manager and at least six phone calls for them cough up two copper coins.

What's with the SBI investigating the Hidden Valley undercover officer shooting? CMPD has NEVER done that before. So what gives?

Anonymous said...

Cedar,

That was so funny, it made me cry! I think I'll go for option 2. Thank you.

6:47,

I might have this wrong, but the way I understood it was any time a family member requests an SBI investigation, they must investigate. If family does not know they can request it, they don't get the SBI investigation.

I heard that Schwartz chick is where she is 'cause she slept with a Captain. A married Captain.

Anonymous said...

SBI will not investigate anything unless the CMPD, the DA, or a judge asks them to.

from WCNC

"Under state law, the district attorney must ask for the SBI to investigate once a family member of a person killed by a law enforcement officer makes a request"
