I am not offended by your sexual perversion in fact I am rather open minded about the entire gay rights issue. But I am offended by your flag and your use of a rainbow to describe yourselves.
I'm offended by your need to parade your sexuality, openly as if it were a badge of honor. Your flag represents intolerance and hate, it represents an agenda to promote your own self centered need for validation.
It is a flag that demands, a flag that has attempted to destroy, and it has attempted to marginalize my Christian beliefs.
It has no place in a St. Patrick's Day Parade, Christmas Parade or any other parade that is meant to be all inclusive any more than a confederate battle flag has a place.
I've seen first hand many of the injustices that people who are LGBT and other, face. Case in point a lesbian couple at Presbyterian hospital who were not allowed the same rights as married spouses. This has been somewhat corrected, now the partner is identified as a "health care advocate" "ombudsman" or other creative term, yet it is not right, fair or just. So I have the greatest sympathy for their situation.
However the Flag is a different story.
In Charlotte the LGBT community has used the flag to bully and force their agenda at a cost to everyone else. Case in point this past weekend's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
When told they couldn't carry the Flag they threatened to carry it anyway and make scene. They called on the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority CEO to withdraw as grand marshal. They called on the city to stop funding the parade and thereby threatened the parades very existence.
When the parade committee said they would allow the flag and even went as far as having the parade emcees announce that the Charlotte Pride Band represented Charlotte's “lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender” community the leaders of the LGBT community continued to object, shifting their attention to the Knights of Columbus who volunteer their time to make the parade happen.
The LBGT leaders say it is only about inclusion and their rights, but the flag is not about free speech or acceptance rather it is a divisive symbol, that screams we are different and we demand attention.
The Charlotte Pride Band has no interest in Irish Culture or Heritage, their only interest in the parade is to shout LOOK AT ME, we're different, pay us attention! And as you can see when you give in to this group they come right back and demand more. It wasn't about being included in the parade after all, it was about the K of C and the national Catholic Church's anti gay stance.
The powers that lead Charlotte LGBT community will not be happy until the parade is either a totally gay event or is disbanded altogether. That is their agenda and that is what their rainbow flag represents.
And that is offensive.

Such hatred. Why are you so threatened? If your "christian" values are solid, why do gays threaten you so?
Your perverted thinking is disturbing.
I think maybe your intolerance and senseless judgments are what's really a threat to a peaceful world.
Sounds like Sochi would be a place for you and "Reverend"Graham.
I have some gay friends that would love to book a cruise on your sailboat...
I don't agree with your comment about gays being perverted. They are as God made them and their choice is the same choice we all have: to live as good and moral a life as possible with what they are given. I do agree with you about the flag. It is time to put it away, or opt for something smaller and less divisive. Peoples' sexual identity is their own business; not something to wave around in other peoples' faces.
Gays have been desperately attempting to gain (force) acceptance of their lifestyle upon others for years. I agree that it is time to give it up. Who they sleep with is their business and no one really cares at this point. The gays who wave this flag are merely insecure beings........
It is offensive, the whole gay rights look at me I'm a fag movement is offensive. I don't care if your gay or whatever but your flag is offensive!
Cedar admit it you are a bigot!
Ahh. Trying to fill the void left by Fred Phelps, I see. Good bye, Cedar Posts.
I think they should all be required to carry a rainbow flag wherever they go. Give the queers a rainbow flag tag for their cars and a nice rainbow border for their drivers License.
Sorry I agree with Cedar enough of the stupid flag, if the Confederate Battle Flag is offensive then so is the stupid rainbow flag.
Always happy to have gay couples aboard. I don't have any problem we people being Gay, just the flag and it is offensive.
But the flags are so "sparkly"!!
You don't have a problem?
I think calling it a perversion would definitely say you have a "problem".
It's a simple flag, folks.
Comparing it to the Confederate flag that symbolizes to any sane person the enslavement of human beings is perverted.
7:52 If it's just a simple flag then why the big fuss about carrying it in the parade?
I saw the "Pride Band" and other than their green shirts they didn't seem to have any reason for being at the St. Patrick's Day Parade except to scream we are fags.
"Baby Huey" in the photo above was clapping his hands over his hand as if he was in a protest march. The entire unit was a disgrace.
Forget about the bible, and the Christian bull sh8t, let's just get down to basics. Fags are just nasty, and what they do is nasty. The whole gay lifestyle is fuc8ed up. And I agree they are born this way, and should be culled as you would any defective mutant.
Queers like clowns I really dislike. The St. Pat's parade has always been a freak show might as well have fags and dikes in it.
I don't know if I'd call it a hate flag but I don't like it, I don't like what it stands for and for a group of people who say "we just want to have the same rights as everyone else why are they always trying to be different?
The fag band was embarrassing but I don't think most people care. In Charlotte it is more of a joke than anything else.
And there it is...ignorance and hatred are alive and well.
Cedar you must have had a bad experience when you were a child? Maybe a clown corn holed you? Betcha it hurt!
Agreed...... The St. Patricks Day Parade is all about the celebration of St. Patrick, The Patron Saint of Ireland. The "Gay Pride" stunt was nothing more than a bunch of self serving individuals attempting to draw attention to themselves. They know nothing about the meaning of the holiday. Pathetic and disgusting.....
Agreed that the rainbow flag is offensive. I am now offended by the left and their hate for traditional American values. They hate me for being a patriotic Christian person, so I am now offended and angrier than ever before. I should just love and turn my cheek, but that means we are being destroyed as a civilization. This is like the Black Panther and anti-establishment movement again, only the left is smarter this time. They are infiltrating in tricky ways by appealing to the whites then are slowly taking over and eroding all good things. So we need to find ways to appeal to other leftist whites too in kind ways. Because they never understand my comments on social media. They just call it hate and ignore my comments. It's time to fight back people!
Cedar didn't have to make the point--the comments make the point for him. If any other flag had been discussed in this way (Confederate Battle Flag, American Nazi Party, or any other controversial banner), this article would have flown below the radar.
There is no way that a group could adopt a banner and assert their heterosexuality on the same level as the "pride" movements and not be labeled bigots.
Your chiding of Cedar makes the point of the blog/article. You are upset because he states that he doesn't want an "in your face" reminder of something he can tolerate, but that he does not support.
Banners and flags strip the bearer of his or her identity, and unify the collective individuals into a specific, general movement. I have gay friends--they are people first, gay people secondly; just as I am "me" first and a straight man secondly. My identity is not wrapped up in my sexual orientation as the singular identifier.
If it were, people would get offended, now wouldn't they?
Ah, the agitated taking-of-offense of the white, straight man. You have it so, so tough Cedar Posts. How do you live in a white, straight, Christianity-based, male-driven society when you are a white, straight Christian male? Like, no, really, I'm AMAZED you've been able to survive in this difficult society that is out to get you - congrats to you and your perseverance.
Sarcasm aside, this is, by far, and really without any sort of competition, the dumbest thing I've ever read. And by extension -- you, the dumbest person to write. Congratulations!
This is satire, right? Please tell me this is satire, and you aren't actually this dense. Please? ....please?
Whatever you say, closet "country" boy....
It is offensive. Period. I don't appreciate having to explain to my six year old why those people are waving a Rainbow flag, while everyone else is waving the tricolour flag of Ireland.
I've never had much of a desire to put a flag up at the house...until now.
I think your article would have been better if it had avoided any hint of bigotry. As a gay person, i also don't like the overtly showy and in your face tactics of the Gay Rights Activists. It's an unfortunate layover from the 70's and 80's and it leaves a bad taste in not only the wider straight communities mouth, but those of us who fight the battle for equality through egalitarian channels. Normalized and homogenous representations of our community would be better than the flag waiving activists of Pride Parades. I'm sorry they imposed themselves on St. Patrick's day in such an offensive way. Having the band play and march was enough of a victory, the flag could have been left behind. I wish that those who also supported your wish to remove the flag as a symbol of divisiveness in america had chosen their words more carefully, It makes you look worse than you already do. It's more than marriage equality that we fight for as well. Equality in the workplace, protection from violence, fair treatment for housing, etc, things that are rarely spoken about. I understand your stance as a fundamentalist christian. You've been raised to believe we are perverts, and evil. There are good and bad members of any community. Most of us just want to be left alone to live our lives in peace, but can't because of people who hate us for no reason. Remember, Christianity is a religion, not the people who follow it. Be better than other fundamentalists and help do what Jesus would have done, care for and love those you don't understand, include them in your worship and don't shame them for being something they can't control. Trust me, if being gay was a choice, I'd rather have been straight. It would have been much easier. Yes, the flag is showy, but the more a group is maginalized and pushed aside, the showier they become. You really want to bring that flag down, help get equal rights passed in your state. Those flags will disappear once everyone is the same under the law.
6:56 Thanks for taking the time to speak out. I value your thoughts and concerns.
Just a side note I'm an Episcopalian rather than fundamentalist, we have women clergy and many parishes have gay and lesbian ordained ministers. Think Catholic with a twist.
I am a member of the Charlotte Pride Band. We did not make any demand for anyone to withdraw from the parade. As a group, we decided to march in the parade even though other "leaders" wanted us to not march.
I am also of Irish heritage. I absolutely know why St. Patrick's Day is celebrated. You may not be aware, but parades were not part of this holy day until immigrants started them in America. In Ireland, it is mostly a solemn day.
And why is it right for people to voice their intolerance of us, yet we have no right to voice our own intolerance of yours?
I have been with my partner almost 30 years. I don't want any special rights. I want the SAME rights. Your religious beliefs should have no bearing on my civil liberties any more than mine should on yours.
