Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain’s service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment.
I have asked Vice President Mike Pence to offer an address at the ceremony honoring Senator McCain at the United States Capitol this Friday.
At the request of the McCain family, I have also authorized military transportation of Senator McCain’s remains from Arizona to Washington, D.C., military pallbearers and band support, and a horse and caisson transport during the service at the United States Naval Academy.
Finally, I have asked General John Kelly, Secretary James Mattis, and Ambassador John Bolton to represent my Administration at his services.
Cedar's Take: If I was Trump I'd tell the McCain family to sod-off.
McCain was a hubris twit who played the cancer card and took joy in derailing the Trump Administration's roll back of Obama Care.
He was the poster child for term limits, who refused to resign despite knowing he would not be returning to Washington, and he taunted President Trump himself or via surrogates long after he was incapacitated. He publicly "uninvited" the President to his funeral. McCain even issued a post mortem statement that contained a vailed rebuke of the President.
So I don't think he or his family had any right to expect anything from the President.
Finally when his death was a breath away his family hastily issued a bogus "Suspending Medical Care" statement. And the media doesn't ask why?
I suspect the statements issued against Trump have for weeks been generated by the McCain family or some never Trump surrogate.

McCain was a murderer of the worst kind. He hated anyone with brown skin, or who had a different religion. The deaths of 1000's of middle easterner's can be laid at his feet.
And where is the photo of him grinning with the Free Syrian Army terrorists, or the group that he personally put in place that decapitated Danial Pearl.
The US has a lot of military heroes, and John McCain is not one of them. His goal of continuous war for the military profiteers should be his final legacy.
Add in his collusion with Russia on the fake Golden Shower dossier, and you can add treason to his list of accomplishments.

Aug 29, I'm certainly no friend to empire, but the callous way in which drumph has handled the aftermath of McCain's death is downright shameful. At the end of the day, what this shows is trump dosnt care about veterans, he justs uses them as talking points in his culture war. Its interesting that when Kapernick was kneeling, he was so quick to call him an sob and allege that he hates vets, and police, but when an actual war hero, and a former p.o.w. dies he shows his true colors. Trump is just a petty narcissist that will use anyone to accomplish a purpose. The fact that no one on this blog wants to speak about this insult to common decency speaks volumes of the target audience of this blog.
And let me add this... McCain was a warmonger and a bloodshedder for the empire as far as I'm concerned, but I believe when he realized he was on the way out he started to somewhat make up for his past actions. Blocking the repeal of obamacare, his comments on drumphs wall, etc.
Is anyone else really attracted to Joshua Powell? I’d like to find out if he learned the life in prison. Something about a black man who can speak in complete sentences without using Ebonics. Such a pretty mouth on that one.
