There have been 32 homicides in Charlotte so far this year. 28 of these victims are young African American men. In each case where the killer is known they are also African American.
Black on Black violence is routine, ask any police officer.
If you suggest that maybe we should worry about this, you're racist! Just ask Ken Gill of CPI.
If you suggest maybe we should talk about the African American community becoming a culture of violence embracing criminality and gun play and well, you're racist.
Ask about Charlotte's homicide rate and you get "what about confederate statues?".
I might be wrong but I don't recall any confederate statue killing anyone. Do you?
But they were racist slave owners traitors and treasonous bigots and losers!
Well they weren't, most like my great grandfather didn't own slaves and were only loyal to their home, their own state, which they considered their country.
Yes they lost, they were vastly outnumbered, ill equipped, and everyone one of them was a volunteer. They had smooth bore canons while the Union Army had riffled cannons. They lacked training and for the most of the war they lacked ships and railroads to move troops. And they didn't loot or burn plantations and in the end thought it was better to end the war rather than continue a stalemate.
Despite being out numbered 2/1 they inflicted devastating losses on the Union Army. The Confederate Generals were well known for their tactics and their ability to lead and motivate their troops in the most difficult of conditions.
But the reason we have statutes and forts named for Southern Generals is that first everyone of them were Americans both before the war and after the war. They also fought for the United States before and after the Civil War. They were all given full pardons.
And some like my grandfather fought for both sides.
Its called reconcilation.
