Charlotte’s Citizens Review board Wednesday night unanimously ruled there’s substantial evidence that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police erred in how it handled discipline for officers who mistakenly detained a woman last summer.
While the ruling is not a final determination in the case, it’s a significant victory for Jasmine Horne, whom officers put in handcuffs and detained in the back of a police cruiser last summer when they misidentified her.
Announcing the ruling, Tonya Jameson, chair of the CMPD Citizens Review Board said to Horne, "After carefully considering the complete internal affairs case file, as well as the statements provided by you and your attorney, and representatives of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, by a vote of nine to zero the board found that there is substantial evidence of error regarding CMPD's determination that officers did not violate rule conduct 29 and rule conduct 28. The board will conduct an evidentiary fact-finding proceeding to enable the board to make a fully informed final determination."
There will now be an evidentiary hearing on May 12.
It doesn't take a lot of smarts to realize the Charlotte Citizens Review Board is nothing more than a law enforcement hating racist defund the police sham. Look no further than board chair Tonya Jameson.
Yet the question remains how was this allowed to happen?
And if these racist police hating activists contiue to have a voice on the Citizens Review Board, then what of Charlotte?
With a police department unable to fill hundreds of vacant jobs, no ability to enforce common city ordnances, too few officers to enforce even basic traffic laws there is no surprise violent crime is through the roof and that gangs of even teenagers go on cross city crime spree that includes armed robbery.
Anyone who watched the interaction with Jasmine Horne would come away with a clear understanding that she was not exactly cooperative. Did her attitude give the perception of wrong doing?

Tonya Jameson is an experienced, fact-finding journalist, and this was a unanimous vote. Anything that even sniffs of power from someone who isn't lily white, you all think it is a danger to your position. We are here to stay, and will continue to make Charlotte a more wonderful place for EVERYONE to live.

So glad I left CMPD last year! No idiotic review boards in Union County. AND real leadership and citizens who actually appreciate LE. We constantly "reinforce" to the thugs that they are more than welcome to stay on the other side of the county line where their efforts are more appreciated....

By the book she was cuffed for her own protection.

Jameson is particularly bad and doesn't care about misconduct by cops against white people, no matter how much evidence. She wouldn't do anything about it as a journalist and doubt she'll do anything about it in this position either. Just like Lyles.

What happened to those charges? Nothing in NCCourts.org on the docket. No conviction showing NCDOC. Did DA drop the Sept, 2019 charges for "sexually assaulting two "women" (obviously children) over a 22-year span." This charge would clearly mean he repeatedly raped at least two children year after year. What happened with the cases against Henry Black, Jr., the chairperson for the City of Charlotte’s Citizens Review Board, who wasn extradited to Charlotte to face numerous felony sexual assault charges?
