Just another news blip on the radar this morning:
(From the local paper) A report of gunshots heard in the middle of the night led police officers to a body in northeast Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The identity of the victim has not been release(d). It happened around 2 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in the 8900 block of Avebury Drive, CMPD said in a news release.
The area is home to an apartment community near the intersection of East W.T. Harris Boulevard and Old Concord Road.
Officers found someone with a gunshot wound, and Medic ambulance personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective,” CMPD says.

Four murders in five days. This is homicide number 71 for the year. Charlotte is well on the way to 120+ at this rate. Yet Charlotte City leaders are silent.
Interesting to note that Mecklenburg County's "WOKE" Sheriff Garry McFadden who says that all jail inmates are to be referred to as "Residents" has as of July 17, 2022 removed the arrest inquiry search function from the MCSO web site.

The concept begun by Rodney Monroe and faithfully continued by McFadden, Lyles and Merriweather is clear; if we don't report crime we have no crime problem.

So many of these shootings are in apartment communities, which highlights another issue which is lack of affordable housing in Charlotte. But issues need solutions:
1) Rent controls placed on all corporate landlords. If you buy an apartment, duplex, or single family home that is not your primary residence, rent should be frozen at the level when purchased, with an escalator limit of 1% per year. Our residents are not Wall Street's fat cat retirement funds
2) How come these apartments have no rec facilities? Where is the basketball hoop or ball field? These landlords need to provide an organized rec league, city-wide, that matches the resident youths up against each other. 3v3, football, soccer, stickball. These neighborhood gatherings would bring community to our broken homesteads. All of these corporate owners have stripped Charlotte of its neighborhood feel, creating the canvas that makes these weekly shootings possible.
We need more regulation on the wolves who are fleecing the flock. Freeze property taxes for residents, making the increase burden solely on the recent buyer. Where are our progressive leaders to run these great ideas up the flagpole?
McFadden and his clown posse of Merriweather and Lyles are clueless. Absolutely its a coordinated move to dumb down the crime numbers. If you haven't noticed there's a huge rift between JJ and McFadden/Merriweather. When command published the graph showing the numbers of black vs white crimes McFadden went nuts.
Apartments are not for children. They are for young professionals without kids.
Apartments are what killed Steele Creek. White people don't want to live in those tenements. But black folk they are so ghetto - if you got a voucher and an EBT Card you're good - got the bus to the Lynx Blue Line and your once a week job a Popeye's on Trade street Life is Good! Vi Lyles perception of afforable living. Shit absolutely killed Steele Creek just like it did Eastland.

Apartments provide a community where neighborhoods did at one point. My Black brothers and sisters cannot afford Cherry or Belmont any more, apartments are all we have. My credit is shot, but my sister has vouchers so the management lets us have a 3br.
As for the mugshots, that is totally unamerican to presume guilt before you have a chance to defend yourself. I get that you like to see the skanky white girls, but by having these faces posted here, you are tainting any jury pool.
I remember Steele Creek at the start when the River Gate Shopping Center was awesome now everyday it looks more and more like North Lake Mall. Every time I go there I expect to see Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson all you have to do is add some tribal music and its like Jurmanji! And at night junkies drug dealers and gangbangers take over the place.

The gay pride bands were a terrible idea. CMPD should not be getting into politics. By doing this they are actually doing the reverse of saying all people are equal. They should be ignoring race, sexual identity etc. This just calls attention and creates divisions. Why do I need to know what someone else's preferences are? It should not be my business. You do you, just don't force me to watch and I won't do that to you either. Children should not go to drag shows or strip bars. They should not be exposed to sexuality period. Wearing the pride bands is almost like saying I love to see homosexual PDA's. Why else would you want others to see your pride bands? It's just inappropriate regardless of your preferences. Pride is one of the 7 deadly sins anyway. They should change the word "pride" to something else because having pride for anything is not a good thing. from learnreligions.com ...

We should all treat each other with respect period. Stop letting these politicians that create issues to have something to campaign on (or anyone else) divide us.
