The Charlotte Observer is reporting:
An 18-year-old Lincoln County woman who was being pursued by an N.C. Highway Patrol trooper died Wednesday evening when her truck crashed into trees, troopers say.
Michelle Taylor Platt, of Lincolnton, was killed in the wreck shortly before 10 p.m. on Bess Chapel Road, according to the Highway Patrol.
Trooper J.B. Thornburg tried to stop Platt for speeding shortly after 9:30 p.m. on N.C. 279, near Cherryville in Bessemer City, according to the Highway Patrol. But Platt, driving a Ford F-150, drove off and would not stop, troopers say.
Platt drove west on N.C. 279, then turned north on N.C. 150 into Lincoln County, according to the Highway Patrol. She made several other turns but lost control of the truck, slid off the road, and crashed into trees. She died at the scene.

I'm always surprised at the number of really cruel people in the world. I guess these are the same people who kick the family cat when no one is looking, steal french fries from their 5 year old and remind their wives how fat they have become.
Such sad small lives they must lead.
We may never know why this child tried to out run a State Trooper. But as a parent I think the only thing your can ever do is teach your children well.....
