Council Still Split On Jackson File

WSOC is reporting the following:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte's City Council will soon know more about Marcus Jackson's history with the Police Department. Jackson is accused multiple sex crimes while on duty.

Whether or not the personnel information goes public is up to council members.

"I think that's micro-managing, which is not our role," Republican Councilman Andy Dulin said.

Dulin said he trusts the city's manager and police chief to make any necessary changes, without the council getting involved. But Dulin said it comes down to what's in the file. He'll vote yes, he said, if it's in the public interest. "If we decide we need to go forward with it," Dulin said. "City Council won't have any trouble making the decision to do that."

Since his arrest earlier this month, Eyewitness News learned Jackson was suspended two different times since he joined the department in 2008.

What other information his personnel file may contain is a question still unanswered.

"We owe it to the public of at least going through the closed session and hearing the chief's position and making a decision," Mayor Anthony Foxx said.

Foxx called for the issue to be put on Monday night's agenda. Since Jackson's arrest, the mayor has said transparency may be the best way to regain public trust “That's a decision point that each council member will have to get to," Foxx said.

Eyewitness News also spoke to councilmen Patrick Cannon and James Mitchell this weekend. Mitchell said he's still undecided. Cannon said he's leaning toward voting "no." But again, he said it all depends on what information is in that file.

Cedar's Take Away:

First Andy Dulin needs to get the hook next election and expect Cedar Posts will make an effort to have Mr. Dulin excused.

If the file is released it has been cleansed.

If the file isn't released it is damming to Rodney Monroe.

If the file isn't released the only way we will learn what is in the file is during a criminal trial years from now. I don't expect this will go to trial and a plea will seal the file and RoMo misdeeds forever.

And so it goes.....

WTF?
Dulin says he thinks "it is best" to leave it to Curt Walton and Rodney Monroe to make the necessary changes?? Again, WTF?
Rodney Monroe is THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAN SIGN OFF ON REDUCING A RECOMMENDED INTERNAL AFFAIRS INVESTIGATION. If the fact that Rodney Monroe reduced Jacksons suspension is left out of the file, the cover up is complete.
When it all does come out, and it will, Rodney Monroe will once again be the reason people lose their jobs. He is the reason people lost their jobs at VCU.

Has Dulin been living under a rock for the last few months? Does everyone on City Council have their heads up their butts???

Does he NOT KNOW that Curt Walton and Rodney Monroe depend on each other to keep their jobs?

Does he not believe in OVERSIGHT?
Micro managing? Give me a break...
ANY managing by City Council would be welcome. OVERSIGHT IS THEIR FREAKING JOB, ISN'T IT?? If not, what IS their job??

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

City Council better grow a pair on this one.....they better make damn sure they get ALL the files and ALL the information, or they will all have egg on their faces.

The public has every right to know how rodney handled these suspensions, it GOES, ONCE AGAIN, I REPEAT, TO HIS JUDGMENT.

And his lack of judgment is one thing that is killing the CMPD.
Add his lack of ethics, integrity and honesty on top of that, and you have quite a toxic mix.

TWO SUSPENSIONS, AT LEAST ONE REDUCED BY NONE OTHER THAN RODNEY, FROM WHAT HEARD, AFTER HE HAD A SIT DOWN, FACE TO FACE WITH JACKSON.

Tread carefully on this one City Council, people are watching very carefully. You will be just as culpable as Curt Walton and Rodney Monroe.

Mayor Foxx,
Are you listening?

Let this one slide, and you will be just as guilty as Rodney.

We need to see these files, HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY first and foremost.

Listen to the PEOPLE that elected you....

Do not let Curt Walton and Rodney Monroe bring you down and call your integrity into question.

I would like to Monroe to give an explanation of why he reduced his suspension if it does come out into the open.

I can only guess what his reason for reducing his suspension would be?
I bet one of the reasons is he just wants boots on the ground regardless of who is wearing them for visability.

The department needs to take all that extra pay and newly created RAC SGT positions that were created away and give everyone their 5% raise. If monroe did this he would have enough money to give everyone a 5% raise for the next few years. Patrol officers and Detectives are the ones out there beating the bushes and working hard. They are the ones that are working on the holidays and working 3rd shift. I bet you don't see any RAC SGTs out working holidays and weekends or working all night long. Nope. They just get the officers to collect all the crime stats for them so they can prestent them to
Ray Ray and monroe at the monthly dog and pony show.

Does anyone know if they are still shrink wrapping the unmarked cars with that cheap shit that just peels off and looks like crap. What a waste of money that is. They were wraping cars that had over 60,000 miles on them last year.

I too hope Mayor Foxx does NOT join the low life leagues of RoMo and his cronies. His job is to "protect" the public interest NOT Monroe's! I guarantee if he lets this slide his career will do the same!

I think its funny, in poor taste considing the number of people killed but funny in a sick twisted sort of way.

Odd how events like this spawn humor.

hey cedar you need to delete that racist comment on this one that someone anonymous said about he letter to the president from the mayor of chicago. Completely out of line.

Thank you Cedar.

We need to keep this discussion without any kind of bias..because this is NOT about race.

It's about rodney and ray/ray destroying the CMPD.

It's about two unethical, dishonest men in charge at CMPD...period.

From what I am told, the RAC's do an excellent job.
