Thursday's Odds and Ends

Brooklyn Decker - Tells Self Magazine "When I was younger, I was insecure about being gangly and having no shape," she says Self's February issue. "People made fun of me and called me a boy! I remember praying for boobs and a butt. Luckily, I grew into myself and got curves, but when I was first modeling, I wished for that boyish Gisele body again!"

Cedar's Take: I think I need to sit down.

Signs of the Times - Has anyone ever noticed the sign in the old Mecklenburg County Court house that one that says Marriages and Involuntary Commitments? Don't you think its ironic that both are done in the same courtroom?

Cedar's Take: I have no idea why I have a comment about marriage right after a photo of Brooklyn Decker.

Up In Smoke - CMPD Officers were called to The Liberty restaurant when Tia Angela Jenkins decided to fire up a couple of cancer sticks, while sitting inside the establishment. After being approached by officers, she lit up another one and told police officers that she "wanted to go to jail". Shortly after that she was cuffed and stuffed.

Cedar's Take: Props to Michael Wuori @wuori for tweeting the event as it happened and Mecklenburg County Sheriff's office for posting her mug shot in a timely fashion.

Road Work - Highway reflective markers scraped up by DOT snowplows are scattered everywhere. I can imagine the costs of remarking state roads will run into the hundreds of thousands.

But this is not news back in 2000 the Raleigh's News and Observer ran a story that pointed out the of replacing the reflectors in Wake County was over $300,000. Why the state doesn't opt to lower the profile by placing them below grade as they do throughout the northeast is beyond me.
More Signs - Do the "Road Hump" signs strike you as odd? Or I'm I the only gutter mind out here?

Cedar's Take: See above photo of Brooklyn Decker.

Snow Plow Fail - It might not be a good idea to use a fully loaded dump truck to plow the top floor of a parking deck.

Valerie Hamilton's Father Speaks Out - The local paper's Megan Cooke writes an almost unreadable piece on Concord Police Chief Merl Hamilton's address to about 300 high-school students in Concord.

Clearly a very hurt father trying his best to cope with a loss that he was powerless to stop.

Cedar's Take: I think we all feel his anguish and I hope that one day understands he has no guilt in her death.

Funny stuff Cedar! Yes I've spotted the sign in the old court house been a few years, but I'm sure its still there.

Brooklyn - What can you say, but wow and she's not even in a swimsuit.

Now the snowplow that was just dumb I heard it was loaded with 2 tons of material.
