Charlotte Mecklenbug Police Chief Rodney Monroe sets some pretty high standards for his staff.
A recent job posting for the position of "Public Information Specialist for the Office of the Chief" states the minimum qualifications as a "bachelor degree and three years experience" among many others.
The job is described as "coordinating messages and distributing information to internal audiences including the City of Charlotte Corporate Communications, the City's leadership team and the City Council on behalf of the Office of the Chief. This position reports to the Chief of Police.

Cedar's Take: I don't have an issue with the chief hiring intelligent people, in fact I think its an excellent idea. But its pretty ironic that the man who has a bogus degree would restrict an entry level position to only those who have a degree.
Bonus: How many PR people does it take to keep the Chief from putting his foot in his mouth or looking stupid? I've lost track of the body count.

This degree requirement is for mortals. The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) is the supernatural savior of this fair city therefore a degree is merely a formality. Just watched the First 48, latest Charlotte installment.
Who in the world is that woman (Sgt. I think) chomping on the gum the whole show? Geez, someone tell her to park the gum. And why was she telling that Det. to "calm down"? He seemed pretty calm to me.
And then another Det. looks like he has a wad of tobacco in his mouth, what the heck?
At least the rookie Det. was well spoken and not a jackass.
Still, it's like watching paint dry.
And really not a great advertisement for Charlotte.
And 'yall just wait, you haven't seen NOTHING yet!! You think Rodney has spent/wasted money before? Wait until all the DNC money comes rolling in!! And he will have carte blanche and NO oversight as usual. He will be like some despot, spending, spending, spending!!
Listen, he is NEVER going to get a legitimate degree, in his mind, he has one. And remember, in his position, he should have a Masters Degree. Oh right, they waived that for 'ole Rodney, I forgot.
It will be fun to sit back and watch this debacle unfold....keeping a sharp eye on rodney!!!
