Chief Monroe Please Step Away From The Microphone!

With all due respect to the man's position, the uniform and badge that he wears, would someone please keep Rodney Monroe away from the microphone.

Because this is how he is perceived.

Totally unfreaking professional.

Often Cedar Posts is the lone voice against Chief Monroe's actions, yesterday the list of those appalled at his mid-day presser was long and distinguished.

Jeff Taylor who pens "The Meck Deck" blog:

First up, CMPD Chief Rodney Monroe at his presser yesterday:

This was a random act of violence…

Then Chief Monroe seconds later:

He was looking for someone to rob in that area. …Unfortunately, Mr. Barber came along.

So then CMPD does not believe Chauncey Sterling, 18, acted randomly in making his way to a wealthy section of Charlotte before approaching a solitary, distinguished-looking older gentleman with the intent of forcibly taking valuables from him.

More from Jeff Taylor here

WBT Radio's Keith Larson noted that Chief's jovial behavior at the press conference. Walking to the microphone Chief Monroe jokes with reporters that "it's ok to say good morning". The audio is here at the top of the Larson page. And Larson's rant here.

Interesting WSOC edits out the chief's initial exchange but fails to edit out the never ending uhh's that litter his statement which is here and during his follow up questions which is here.

Later yesterday Tara Servatius noted the obvious gang connection to Chauncey Sterling and his numerous posts on MySpace and FaceBook (Since Removed) lamenting his need for money.

The most amazing comment added to the Cedar Posts report of Sterling's arrest is this:

Chauncey does not come from a line of losers.
His older brother is a college graduate who
owns a home and has a family. His older sister
is currently working full-time to pay her way
through college. His grandmother was a college
graduate and a teacher. Most of his aunts and
uncles (there were a total of 11) were college
graduates as well. There are too many cousins
to list that also has college education and
degrees and many many many accomplishments.

A follow-up comment noted that with all that success not one of Sterling's family stepped up to, individually or collectively hire a lawyer. Either not much of a family or not much of a success.

Cedar's Take: Good Point! Why should we have to pay for a public defender if Chauncey Sterling's family is so well off?

Add Chauncey Sterling's MySpace Page to his list of accomplishments as his page earned a nice award yesterday:

Chauncey Sterling just earned the In The Spotlight badge

In The Spotlight

Because your photos are earning quite a bit of attention

Come on Cedar get off the chief's back, he has lowered crime and homicides. Yes Barber's death is tragic but he should have just handed over his wallet. What a dumb ass hero!

So it's the victim's fault?

What alternate universe do you live in?
He hasn't lowered crime OR homicides, and as a "leader" he sucks!
He has set up CMPD as an organization of scared "yes/men-women" who are only worried about one thing: getting promoted and making themselves look good.
His leadership "skills" consist of one style: threats fear' and more threats. command staff, with few exceptions, are absolutely scared shitless. And that is how they, in turn, "lead". Not with what is best for the department or the Officers in mind....but what will make them "look good".
Once again, a singular lack of honesty, integrity and ethics.
Promoting based on diversity and who you know.
He has so f$&$$& up the department it is literally going to take YEARS to undo.

He said he was there, at the scene.

Well, from what I am told, HE WAS NOT THERE. Another lie, so who is really surprised at that???
And another lie at a Press Conference......

It would be really so interesting for someone to do a tally of just how many homicide scenes he has been at since he has been here.

Remember when he promised, he vowed, he said without hesitation that he would be at EVERY HOMICIDE SCENE IN CHARLOTTE?

How has that worked out for Charlotte so far????

I think that any reasonable, sane, intelligent person with any integrity would be angered and disappointed with the way the city of Chatlotte is being run.
That includes CMPD, CC and all government agencies.
Incompetence, lack of integrity and leadership, dishonesty are just a few things that could make one angry........brutha.

The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) is quite appalled at the criticisms directed at him over this incident. The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) was blessed upon this fair city to lift it out of the sewers. Don’t you people know that crime is down? Don’t you people know that The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted this crime infested dump on his shoulders and single handedly made you weak pitiful people safe?

So how about some DAMN RESPECT?

You people should be on your KNEES in reverence every time The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) speaks. You people should shower The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him) your gratitude. The citizens of Charlotte are disgraceful in the eyes of The Apostle Rodney Monroe (peace and blessings be upon him).

To the no caring Anonymous looser who stated that Mr. Barber was a dumb ass hero. Go Screw yourself. Mr. Barber fought for his protection and the thug cowardly shot him and ran. I guess now you expect us to show sympathy towards Mr. Sterling who has dropped out of school as a freshman at the age of 18, and has two kids and a third on the way. Mecklenburg County needs to wake the hell up, and start protecting the citizens from trash like Sterling instead of bad mouthing an innocent victim who lost his life. Show some dignity, shut your freaking mouth if you have noting nice to say. I motion that we allow the citizens to take matter into their own hands when dealing with crap like Sterling since we know the court system is a joke.

Man really u guys are assess for judging somebody by words or pictures what happen to freedom. What about slander and libel. Yea i knew chauncey better yet know him, innocent to proven guilty not the other way around. And really he is a good kid, I don't know what happen. That's another story he has to answer to god for not us. But hell Mr. Barber I send my condolences to his family, but no man has accomplish that much rightfully its funny how people are perfect when they're dead. I bet u he has his share of skeletons too no politician doubles as a preacher. But I'm not one to take sides. And on the other hand u talk shit cause he threw signs, but its cool for whites to sport a rebel flag or gothics sport sixes. I guess blacks don't have as much freedom as the arian brothers, skin heads, or rebels. We r so far from those days yet still close to them. I call it modern day segregation and racism. People hide it. And then I'm tripping off u people say u don't like murderers, but holler death penalty. U mfs are pothetic. I guess the administer of the fluids should be sentenced to death to. Lol some people have to much pride to admit they're ignorant. I'm just glad Yall don't have any say so running the country wed have the death penalty for j walking. Then on the other hand if a white man comes to the hood and kill a black its ok, cause the police do it all the time. I hate misguided people. Ignorance is bliss. Ignorance is what fuels hate. Ignorance and the common cold are the only thing we cant find a cure for. And then who's worse the ones that get caught or don't. And where does sin start in the mind or the actions. I'm a friend to the sterlings and wanna say there will be better days. And to Mr barbers family that I don't know I wanna say there will be better days to Yall to. How bout we all pray. Cause forget the crime let's think about the guns and where they come from the old wars. Cause I ain't ever seen a boat in the hood. How are they gettin here. And nobody said anything blue the ammunition company making there billion dollars off they're conspiracy charge. If I five a murderer a bullet I get a hands off one hands of all charge, if a smith and season gives a bullet they get a house in the camden islands. Stop the violence before it starts not after it happens.

To the latest anonymous racist, hug a thug piece of crap. SHUT IT. Not single person has commented about race, except you. That really shows how insanely Pathetic not pothetic you are. Get your facts straight. It shows in your response that the more you stated, the more ignorant you sound. Tell me this Mr. Hug a Thug, when is the last time a white man or woman has came into a hood and killed a black man or woman (None). When is the last time a black man or woman has killed a white man or woman, I know of a least four in charlotte in the past three years. You are the first to scream racist when it doesn’t appease you. You are the first to call on Oh Mr. Al Sharpton when you feel that your civil rights have been violated. So please leave race out of it, this is a road that you don’t want to go down.
Hey dumb ass, remember this saying. “Actions speak louder than words.” Thug Sterling is not being slandered, his actions took the life a innocent man. We are stating the mere facts, his own family turned him in. Re-think your non educated logic, and try again another day…….
