It seems a number of people have emailed, called or written to Mayor Foxx and Charlotte City Council members about the CMPD attack on the blogger who pens Crime in Charlotte.
City Manager Curt Walton answered the concern via email.
Here is a report on the Crime in Charlotte photography issue. I believe Police reacted appropriately. The right to take pictures, which CMPD acknowledges, is not accompanied by the right to be anywhere the photographer chooses to be.
The report Walton speaks of is here, and is pretty one sided and based solely on the word of the two officers involved. But Cedar Posts understands a completely different chain of events where a lone women standing at a distance of more than 20 feet is threatened with arrest for wanting to take a photo.
The issue of what is acceptable distance seems to be pretty arbitrary and in this case very much after the fact.
As the videos previously posted indicate, CMPD officers allow some pretty shady people to get pretty darn close. So why did two officers feel threatened by a woman who is an outstanding and open supporter of the Police Department? What made them determine that she was a threat by standing far away in the parking lot outside of her own home?
Something just doesn't add up.

Cedar, It appears this investigation has been completed. There is no video to disprove any accusations against anyone. The book is closed. Let this one go!

Rot-knee Muh-roe
Rot-knee Muh-roe

July 1, 2011 7:06 AM Looks like case closed unless there is a video of both officers and their interaction with Crime In Charlotte.
But that doesn't end the issue of First Amendment rights and the CMPD, because it sounds like there are quite a few CMPD officers that need to be "re-trained" before they cost the city some big bucks.
This is the way rodney's cmpd does business, CIC.
If he doesn't like something, he ignores it.....or makes something up, or just changes it to suit his personal agendas.
He doesn't care what you have to say.
And a sad fact is, if you were an African American community leader, he would have already had you in his office for coffee with a presser afterwards.
Rodney and "curt" have closed ranks.....THEY are satisfied, case closed.
But, was an IA case opened on the conduct of the officers?
CMPD/FOXX please answer:
1) Is it considered proper IAB procedure to interview both officers together?
2) Is it considered proper IAB procedure to close a case without even taking a statement from the complaintant?
3) Are you telling me that only a video feed of the event would be considered direct evidence?
This story is a story because it's not only about this incident, it's about the CMPD and their regime under Rodney Monroe and Curt Walton, and the Council and Mayor looking the other way and helping it all go on. The great officers that we do have need the help to breathe again with real leadership that has a common purpose of serving and protecting the citizens, and by extension eachother--not promoting themselves and covering whatever they have to at all costs, which puts every person and officer in danger. WRITE TO DEMAND A CHANGE.
ironic. what if the police arrested her for resist/obstruct/delay? and then the DA reviewed the evidence and dismissed it? would we hear "the awful DA doesn't care about crime!?" or what if a judge found her not guilty... "the judge needs to go!?" that's what we'd usually hear from Crime in Charlotte herself, right?

You are 100% correct...and the MAJORITY agree with you!!
People are weary, tired, demoralized, beat down and so tired of the lack of leadership and lies from the top at cmpd.
It just seems it is never ending.
And Officers know what is going on and are at a loss as to why SOMEONE doesn't stand up to the Ahole and stand up for them and for the good of cmpd.
There ARE members of Brass who could do this, members with integrity, ethics and honesty....but unfortunately no balls!
What do you think council thinks of the CO article? Everyone send it. Bombard em for change.
Foxx, Council, Manager Walton know all about what Monroe has been up to. Problems with some officers allegedly bullying innocent civilians, not reporting/covering for other officers, violating rights, methods of IAB investigations, questionable police reports, etc... are known to City officials. But, yes, do write in and demand that they change. Then don't forget to vote them out when able. Haven't we had enough? They are the ones who keep Curt Walton in his job and approve what he does... Add City Manager Curt Walton--who hired Monroe--to the list:

What planet does Monroe live on . His message to cc is contradictory . 1st he blames the woman & 2nd he tells them he will review policy .
dah !
