Monday's Odds and Ends

485 Deaths - A woman and her boyfriend were hit by separate cars and killed on Interstate 485 around 10:00 last night, after they got out of their vehicle during an argument.

The N.C. Highway Patrol identified the woman as Terri Lynn Stevey, 30, of Sherrills Ford.

Troopers haven't identified the man because they haven't notified his family, but investigators say he was Stevey's boyfriend.

According to police Stevey was traveling with her mother and her boyfriend, when she got into a fight with her boyfriend. She jumped out of the car and her boyfriend ran after her.

Troopers said they don't expect charges to be filed against either driver who struck the pedestrians.

Cedar's Take: The impressive police response, Cedar counted more than two dozen CMPD, Pineville and NCHP Cruisers last night. The fatality investigation closed down the 485 inner loop for more than 2 hours.

Stevey has priors listed with Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department for prostitution and auto theft.

Carolina Panthers Win - But Panthers' fans are the biggest losers. At the start of the 4th quarter with the score 13-23 fans started heading to their cars. By the 2 minute warning the Bank of American stadium was half empty.

Can't imagine what television audiences think. Some of the best plays of the game happened during the last five minutes, including the final Washington possession that resulted in a interception thrown by John Beck. Cam Newton was 18 for 23 posting a 256 yards passing number. Cedar's Take: Great game, nice win and prefect weather so what is up with all the fans leaving early. Do these same people leave before the end of a movie, do they leave church before the collection plate is passed. I just don't get it.

Occupy Charlotte - Well there is not much to report other than a bunch of people hanging out in a mini tent city, two arrests, toilet issues, and a community dinner on Saturday.

Of note the Occupy Charlotte group holds "tribal council" meetings each evening and on Thursday they voted some creep named Tom Shope off the island.

Seems Shope is missing the point of the occupy movement, mainly capitalism is bad.

Turns out Shope claims he owns a business license in the name of "Occupy Charlotte". Shope was tying to think ahead and score some big bucks with Occupy Charlotte logo ware.

More from the Charlotte Observer is here.\\

Cedar's Take: Bad news for Shope, Cedar Posts has already filed for a Occupy Charlotte Trademark Registration. Cedar has also applied for Trademark protection for "Lavatory Occupied" and "Occupy Your Mind" as well as "Pre-Occupied"

CMPD Riot Squad - Which is officially called "CEU" (Civil Emergency Unit) has been training all CMPD officers in crowd control.

Jeff Tayor's The Meck Deck which is now penned by Tara Servatius offers an interesting take of CMPD's preparations for next year's Democratic Convention. "The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has lost control of uptown three times since 2005 and in all three incidents, the culprits have mostly been teenagers. In 2005, a violent, unruly mob raged through uptown after the fireworks. The next year, a massive brawl broke out after the New Year’s Even celebration, with 40 arrests. Police made changes to those events and others uptown because of the violence, and confidently proclaimed they’d solved the problem only to lose control of uptown again on Memorial Day this year, this time to a likely gang related crowd of “as many as 30,000 people,” the Charlotte Observer reported. One person was murdered execution style in that one before police got it under control. Another was shot. Now nearly all of the department’s 1,700 officers are getting training in how to deal with riots ahead of the 2012 Democrat National Convention, WSOC-TV reports. At the helm? CMPD Deputy Chief Harold Medlock, who assures us that: “… that this is not all new to Charlotte. Several hundred officers have already been trained in riot control and have been called in to handle trouble in uptown twice in the last five years.” Yah, and no offense guys, but that didn’t go so well. The rest of Tara's post is here.

Nice photo of the hooker, I'd guest her boyfriend is her pimp. No doubt she was dropped on her head before she turned one month, stupid since birth maybe her mother will take time to reflect on her failure before she breeds again.

Tara as usual wasn't there and misses the main problem. The administration decides when CEU is used and when CEU's hands are tied. All of us working uptown events are glad to see them, and wish they were allowed to do their job. Now that we are all going through this training it is even more obvious what a thankless job it is for them.

Right you are, right you are.

Brass decides, and that has been Medlock.

Enough said.

It you don't mind you person who left that comment about Terri maybe you need to go and get hit by a damn car and see how your family and friends feel after they lose you. They left 2 little children behind that lost not one but both of their parents. Hooker maybe your the hooker because honestly she was one of the best people you could have met in your life. Grow up and have some common decency and whoever runs this site needs to better screen your comments because that is rather harsh I have a better picture of her and I would gladly put it on here and dude if you got a problem then hit me up on croseclifton@yahoo.com got a Facebook page as well under the same address and don't much care y don't you go and look at her pics and then think about calling someone a hooker again.
