Shooting Suspect Arrested After Foot Chase

One man was hospitalized, an officer injured and one person taken into custody Friday afternoon, police said, after a shooting incident ended in a police foot chase for the suspect in south Charlotte.

Just after 1 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to the 5900 block of South Boulevard, near Archdale Drive, after receiving a report that someone had been shot. When they arrived, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

It took eight CMPD officers to subdue the suspect Pierre Cortez Leach after a brief foot case. One officer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital suffering from minor injuries.

According to WCNC reporters, Leach continued to battle with officers after he was tackled to the ground.

Leach who is 24 has been charged with resisting a public officer, assault on a government official employing aggressive physical force, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail and his bond is set at $203,500.00

Leach has priors for drug and weapons charges.

Cedars Take: Again CMPD officers are put at risk because they lack Tasers. Mr. Leach should be thankful officers felt like getting in a work out because I doubt anyone would blame them for putting this animal down on the spot.

Funny per the Charlotte Observer there has been no crime what so ever this week in Charlotte!

All the crimes they reported are from other cities and counties....guess they don't want to ruin Rodney's reputation....

This punks face looks too good. He's missing a broken nose, busted mouth and broken jaw. Too bad.

Cedar you are being too nice. I would have shot him dead no doubt about it.

As it is now I expect he'll be out in a week, court will be just a slap on the wrist.
