In Case You Missed It - 5 Years Ago Today Officers Clark and Shelton

It’s been five years, but the pain of this Saturday night will never go away for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers Sean Clark and Jeff Shelton were shot and killed at the Timber Ridge Apartments on March 31, 2007 by Demeatrius Montgomery.

At the site of the murder there is a permanent memorial cross.

For the first time the father of Demeatrius Montgomery visited the memorial.

“My respects go out to the officers loved ones I have a deep and heavy heart for them,” said Donald Guy.

Guy told NewsChannel 36, coming to the memorial brought back a flood of memories from that terrible night.

“I have not seen my son since the verdict and I have asked him over and over again to tell me what happened that night…not one reply,” said Guy.

He attended the trial everyday and reached out to the fathers of the two officers after it was over.

“That night eats at me daily,” he said.

Montgomery is appealing his 2010 conviction.

Cedar's Take: Officer Down Momorial Page for Sean Clark in here and Jeff Shelton is here.

Officers Clark and Shelton were shot shortly before Midnight on March 31, 2007 they both died on April 1, 2007 just after Midnight.

Strange how nobody comments on this, remembering our fallen brothers. But if it was a post about something negative going on with the department (which is okay) everyone would be speaking up. Remember it like it was yesterday.

Many forget, many remember, some that don't remember, just don't know how to post and those that remember may not post, but silently remember. They are gone like others before, whether you knew them or not, but if you knew them or others before they will always live through the memories of all that knew who made the ultimate sacrafice by another person's choice.

It is too bad that people have to die, but when an officer dies it is seen as heroic and Ive never been sure why that is.
These were great men, trying to make a difference. No ne can take that away.
When someone straps on a gun, they better be ready for a gun fight. I think some people, on the street, see it that way.

No one should be in this position, a man with a gun for nefarious reasons. That is the problem in all murder cases. No one should have had a gun in the first place.

My condolences to the family of these men.

What is it about serving on CLT city council that Andy Dulin so dislikes that every time he gets a chance to run for "higher office" he jumps?? Andy Dulin is a joke. A complete fraud. Never earned a nickle on his own. He lives off his mommy and daddy's money. He says he's a Realtor. Just ask some of his fellow Realtors when is the last time he has shown a property. Ask'em when is the last tine he has gotten a commission check. Check Mecklenburg land records. Where did he come up with the money to own a 1 million$ property
