In Case You Missed It - Clay Aiken Wears a Hoodie

Clay Aiken Wears a Hoodie - As a "tribute" (expect "tribute" to become the most overused word of 2012 thank you "Hunger Games") to Trayvon Martin.

Appearing on TV shows on Monday promoting reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice, Aiken explained the hoodie look was "in memory of Trayvon Martin," and added, "We're hoping for justice in that case. That's a story that has angered a lot of Americans... This could have been anybody's child."

Aiken says, "It's pretty infuriating that someone can shoot somebody and not be arrested for it."

Aiken the always effervescent and flamboyant flamer, like a dozen other celebrities who have taken to wearying hoodies misses the mark is his attempt act like a thug.

Rainbow Over Charlotte - Yes it is real.

WCNC's story about how this image was captured is here.

And more photos and how to purchase a copy of the rainbow over Charlotte Photo from Photographer Chris Austin is here.

UNC Goes Down in Flames - The Tarheels lose big to Kansas and return home to share the shame.

CMPD's Deputy Chief Has A Nutty - WFAE reported Monday afternoon that Deputy Chief Harold Medlock fired off a flaming arrow nastygram to the US Secret Service.

And there is one exchange from last June that shows CMPD and its federal security partners off to a bit of a rocky start in their partnership to secure the city for the DNC. CMPD Deputy Chief Harold Medlock sent a testy email chastising his Secret Service contact for not consulting him first in scheduling a series of meetings. Medlock ends by saying "I trust decisions such as this will not become a pattern."

The revelation was part of a bigger story "City Admits Too Much Info Redacted, Makes No Apology" about CMPD's lack of openness. The complete WFAE story is here. The Charlotte Observer picked up the story verbatim failing to expand on the information this morning. The Observers story is here.

More On Trayvon Martin - As facts slowly emerge, members of the black community continue to protest the lack of an arrest in the case.

Early Monday it was leaked that Martin, 17, was suspended by Miami-Dade County schools because traces of marijuana were found in a plastic baggie in his book bag, family spokesman Ryan Julison said. Martin was serving the suspension when he was shot Feb. 26 by George Zimmerman, who was patrolling the neighborhood that Martin was visiting with his father.

Meanwhile Trayvon Martin's mother has filed trademark applications for the slogans "Justice for Trayvon" and "I Am Trayvon."

Cedar's Take: Family members claim that Martin's pot bust had nothing to do with his murder. It may however show what Trayvon's frame of mind was the night he was being followed by cop wanna be George Zimmerman. Unhappy with being sent to his father's house, away from his girlfriend. Could it be that Trayvon had just had enough of people telling him what to do and how to act?

As far as the fire storm blowing around Trayvon's death. It is amazing to me how people can get behind something so divisive and expend so much energy. What in the world are people in Detroit doing protesting a murder in Florida? Don't they have enough to worry about in their own back yard?

Today's Google Doodle - Mies

Today, Google honors Ludwig Mies van der Rohe — Know to many as simply Mies, that German giant of post-World War I architecture — with a poetic Doodle of his crowning achievement: Crown Hall at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he was head of the architecture school. The logo celebrates the anniversary of Mies’s birth, 126 years ago. More about Crown Hall is here.

Why don't you act like a man and include your name with all your racist rants? Harold Medlock is one of Chief Monroe's hardest working and highest paid assistants. Give it a rest!

You are kidding right? The ONLY thing the top brass at CMPD work hard at is SPINNING! Are you not dizzy yet? Sounds like to you are to me!

It appears that Zimmerman lost sight of Martin after he ran and was returning to his car when Martin came back up to him. They exchanged words, Martin punched him and then bashed his head on the sidewalk while he was on top of Zimmerman.

That Martin was punching him while on top of Zimmerman has been confirmed. Zimmerman has injuries to the back of his head where it got cut on the pavement and his nose was broken. You can hear Zimmerman screaming for help in the 911 tapes.

This has nothing to do with Stand Your Ground and is all about self defense. The key point is who initiated the second contact. If Martin did, then Martin became the aggressor.

Harold Medlick is Indeed one of the highest paid employees at CMPD. Some would argue, OVERPAID..for an "Assistant", as you so rightly put it!

Do not even try to defend Medlock and his Merry Band!

As has been said so many times before about Medlick, but let's clarify once more, he has been promoted WAY above his inherent capabilities.

He is a fear mongering, vindictive, childish, arrogant employee who uses his position to bully, intimidate and coerce.

And has frequent red in the face temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way and people don't agree with him on EVERYTHING!!

And it should scare the bejesus out of the public that in his infinite wisdom monroe has actually put Medlock in charge of SECURITY for the DNC.

CMPD is a totally screwed up place right now, totally screwed up!!

Sanford PD had no dog in this hunt and they opted not to charge Zimmerman based on his statement and those of witnesses. Case closed.

Now, enter yet a new cause for African-Americans to claim racism. Too bad they picked Martin as their poster boy, seems he is not quite the angel they let on originally. Should he have died, absolutely not. But this appears to be a result of his actions.

Quite frankly, I am getting tired of this community citing racism at every turn.

People at CMPD are well aware of what Medlock is really like and what motivates him.

Obviously he struck a deal with Monroe that he would be his Bag Man, Yes Man in exchange for Monroe appointing Medlock interim Chief when Monroe leaves.

And Medlock is DESPERATE to have that title, even for a little bitty while, to throw around and use in his dottage.

And CMPD is way past screwed up since Monroe took over....way past screwed up. It is corrupt....plain and simple, corrupt.

Why would Trayvon's mother file trademark applications?

Poor Medlock. Maybe the Secret Service did not check with him first because they were just "being vigilant in attempting to thwart efforts to disrupt or do harm during the convention".

Anon 10:56 - I agree with your opinion of this community citing racism at every turn. It is insane. One of the first few comments on the Observer article was someone questioning the use of the phrase "blacking out" regarding the redacted emails, and suggested they choose something a little less racist.

Anon 7:19 - What was written in this article that you could possibly consider racist? Or is that just a standard term you use on everything?

They are using "security" reasons to avoid transparency.

Tampa doesn't have the same "problems" because they are holding themselves accountable for the federal money they are receiving.

Unlike Rodney, who is so obviously not doing anything aboveboard ......

The jobs are going to FOR's, Friends of Rodney's.....obviously they are not advertising and opening these jobs up to proper bidding.

And City Council has abdicated all financial responsibility to none other than Curt Walton......really? Seriously?

And it seems the City Attorneys are covering for Rodney, Curt, and CC......

I hope those Attorneys have attorneys to represent to them......

I have heard rumors of shredding and many things going "missing" in the offices of city and police attorneys....just rumors or fact??

How would we know? There is NO accounting, transparency, openess....none.

Only secrecy, coverups and manufactured legalese being used to sidestep and to try to confuse the issues.

Rodney Monroe has appealed to the baser instincts of just about everyone he has had contact with. And unfortunately, the sleazy, slimy, side of most has triumphed. Almost singlehandedly he has completely changed the complexion of CMPD for the worse.....amazing how one egomaniac has done that in such a short time, isn't it?

Sickening, truly sickening.

The photo of the Tarheel fan and his kid is pretty funny.

Stilman White started in more NCAA wins than Austin Rivers.

Rivers needs to drop the "Sub" from his nickname ("Sub Zero") to more accurately reflect his:

- ZERO ACC regular season championships
- ZERO ACC tournament championships
- ZERO wins in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge
- ZERO NCAA wins

"Most of the time" when a black person is killed by someone other than a black person, the black race wants to call it Racism. Unless of course it is so apparent that the black suspect can absolutely be found guilty..Why is that? Case in point. The hazing murder of a black band member beaten to death by other black band members.
This was absolutely murder. But it was black on black crime. How in the heck do you rationalize that?
Where is Jesse and Al for this one? Where are the protestors. Why isnt everyone wearing a band uniform. Where are all the white do gooders for this one. I have never seen such a totally ignorant display of stupidity.
I dont get it? I guess its a culture thing...

I now sort of get why Trayvon's mom filed for the trade applications, and have to say, it probably wasn't a bad idea.

Now that the new black panther party is involved issuing wanted posters and rewards for Zimmerman dead or alive, and Spike Lee tweeted the wrong address for Zimmerman making the couple that lived there move to a hotel for their safety, and all the high school kids that walked out of school and trashed the Walgreens, it would atleast give them some legal rights to prevent association of these acts in the name of Trayvon.

Well I guess I tried way too hard to give the benefit of the doubt when I posted the comment above at 11:20.

The trademark applications were for DVD's, CD's and "intellectual property rights for projects that will assist other families who experience similar tragedies"

Look at good ol sweet clay. Sitting there with his legs so gently crossed and his hands on his knees, his gay head so slightly turned to one side. I would just love to walk up there and bitch slap him right across the jaw. Wake up you idiot.
