Tragic End Two Young Lives Lost But For CSX Employees The Horror Lingers

The deaths of Hanna Elizabeth Rigley, 18, and Arielle McKenzie Troutman, 16 on the CSX railroad tracks that parallel Charlotte's Monroe Road are likely to fade from the newspapers and nightly news inside of 24 hours.

CMPD sources tell Cedar Posts that they have not uncovered any signs of foul play. Based on the CSX engineer's comments and other evidence it seems that only one conclusion can be made, suicide.

Mainstream media doesn't report on suicides, but as horrific as it sounds these two girls may have had a death pact. The engineer's statement that he saw one person not moving suggest both girls on the tracks together.

A review of Rigley's Facebook page revealed nothing out of the ordinary at first glance, a young woman, into tattoos and piercing, somewhat goth in nature.

But then there is this photo.

Troutman's Facebook page is much the same, more or less unremarkable.

Except this photo.

Both girls, both with photos of train tracks leading off into the forest.

Sadly for the CSX crew the image of the photos is a harsh contrast to the reality of what happened in the early dark hours of March 17, 2013.

In the weeks leading up to their deaths Hanna is arrested on a felony charge of "Peeping" since the arrest was made by a Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Deputy it appears individual signed the warrant before a magistrate.

In the last six hours of their lives they both offered clues via twitter that they had decided to end their lives together.

On the afternoon of March 15, 2013 at 2:25 p.m. Hanna using the Twitter handle @0ccltism Tweeted "I'll kill you if I can't have you."

On the morning of March 16, 2013 at 10:52 a.m Arielle using the Twitter handle @ElleNeDitRien Tweets: "I get to see my best friend @0ccvltism today <3." A message that Hanna re-Tweets a minute later.

At 8:47 p.m. Arielle Tweets: "A song to say goodbye - placebo" perhaps referring to the UK Alternative Rock Band of the same name.

A few seconds later Arielle Tweets: "It was nice to visit the tracks.", suggesting that the tracks were a place she went to on more than one occasion and that they had left the CSX tracks early in the evening.

At 9:29 Arielle Tweets: "I think I just got my best friend fucked up for the first time lol."

An hour later at 10:30 p.m. Arielle Tweets: "I want someone to be in love with me."

At 10:52 p.m. Arielle's final Tweet: "Why don't I ever throw up."

At 11:21 p.m. Hanna Tweets: "I'm drunk help"

11:26 Hanna's final Tweet: "I'm really fucking dead."

Most disturbing is this photo on Hanna's Twitter feed posted a few days before her death:

It is difficult to understand everything that young women deal with. On Friday March 15 Arielle Tweets:

"Me: I get called a whore bc I'm pretty
Dad: you're pretty?".

There seems to be a tremendous amount of peer pressure among young women to be either straight or gay. There are huge cliches that revolve around homosexuality at high school that did not exist 20 years ago. It is a new form of "Bullying" that Cedar Posts has witnessed on several occasions.

The pressure to be "out" and not embarrassed and to make a choice, to determine who your friends are and how you are accepted and perceived has never been greater.

Hanna's obsession with death, the goth lifestyle, "I collect dead things" and her instagram page "Suicide is Simple" may have been more for shock value than anything else.

Hard to say. But not talking about it won't make it go away.

At first I was disgusted that you would attempt to solve their deaths, without anything more than water cooler gossip from your CMPD buddies.

But if the photos are indeed from their facebook pages then I am afraid you're right.

But why?

Hanna's last tweet "I'm really fucking dead" at 11:26 pm on Saturday 4 hours before her suicide.

The photo on her twitter timeline of two skeletons in a loving embrace no doubt her plan for Arielle.

Hanna: "I'll kill you if I can't have you"

Parents need to pay attention their daughters sick friends.

Clear Hanna lured Arielle to her death.

I don't think anything is clear about this incident, Anon.

I would hope that the authorities are retracing and examining all the angles with an open and critical mind that takes nothing as settled. Not even their assumptions drove previous actions.

When two young lives just blink out like that, such is required.

Maybe that just got really drunk and passed out on the tracks together?

How dare you post these lies. Remove this at once!

Dumb ass parents should be arrested. They are fucking stupid. Damn idiots.

Me: Hey it is 3 fucking AM in the goddamn morning were are your fucking slut daughters?

Parents: We dunnoooo.

Closed casket, no doubt. Hope they saw the buzzards on the tracks yesterday having lunch.

Doesn't look like suicide to me looks like stupidcide.

So very sad.

I'd say it was suicide, by train.

But at 30 mph it was not enough to be quick, and painless. Then figure some braking action maybe 25-20 when it hit them, would make it pretty nasty, and painful.

Drugs maybe heroin?

Everyone slating their parents needs to stop. I'm sure they're blaming themselves enough to make up for the entire population of the planet already, they don't need you to aswell. In my country, being 18 makes you (LEGALLY) an adult. They could've easily told their parents that they're staying at a friends, then gone and done what they liked.

Why is it that they don't report on suicides in the news? Even after their deaths, the fact that these girls need/needed real help is being ignored. More needs to be done for those suffering mental illness and suicidal thoughts, this tragic case only highlights that.

"I think I just got my friend fucked up for the first time"

Ha, no the last time.

Neither fit it, both were odd, few friends only each other, and they thought to make it forever.

Good for them.

There is no doubt is was suicide

Arielle posted on tumbler “directions from my house to nearest tracks saved on my phone … i only stay for my best friend (Hanna) so the minute she’s ready, im going down with her"

There were drugs, alcohol, and various substances in their system. Arielle planned them going to the tracks together, it was from her favorite book. She was going through a lot more than Anyone would understand. Your guys' words up there are reasons people commit suicide. Keep that in mind next time you post a comment on such a tragedy.

Cedar, please delete the comment at 9:28. The language is disgusting and demeaning to everyone. On top of that, the sentiment expressed is really harmful and hurtful.
Of course suicide is not the answer--if that's what happened (and it seems it was). Reading all of the tweets from both girls is truly sad. Desperate. Sad. Lonely. Hurt. Abusing drugs and alcohol. Hopeless. No focus on good things in life or a future.
Whatever happened, please focus on deterrent and help for suicide avoidance and don't allow the mixed-up young women and their families to be damaged even more. Nobody knows the full truth of their lives except them. They chose to end it instead of getting help. That's always wrong. But it doesn't mean they should be beaten up after they're gone. They are far from the only depressed, confused, drug-abusing young people that make bad choices and have a lack of guidance in their lives.
People need to look around and open their eyes in ways to help.
Talking about what happened is important, and honest reporting about it. But using the opportunity to be cruel is not.

Anyone trashtalkin' here should be happy not t be in the situation where you really want to kill yourself. And to blame Hanna is also fucked up. Don't you think that these 2 girls got many family problems? Problems maybe rooted back to Age of 3, or 4 years. Depressions are terrible and don't judge them for something u just can't understand. They were 2 beautiful, intelligent girls that didn't see another way out. May they rest in peace.

Arielle was my friend. And I can confirm they did indeed plan this.

Hanna's Twitter profile lists her name as "(s)ain†" which is probably a reference to the song "(s)AINT" by recording artist Marilyn Manson. I only bring that up because that tweet of, "I'll kill you if I can't have you" is a lyric from a Marilyn Manson song called "Mister Superstar." It's probably not as sinister as it seems at first glance, just a girl quoting a song lyric.

This was planned, in fact I remember that some people close to Hanna on tumblr have, after her death, posted recent conversations with her in which she tells of their actual suicide plan and how to carry it out. I don't know why nobody did anything to prevent it when it was so obvious.
