Keith Lamont Scott Shooting Local Officers Voice Their Opinion It's A Goôd Shoot

CMPD Officers tell CP Tuesday's unfortunate encounter with Keith Scott was a "good shoot" a term meaning officers where within their right to use deadly force.

Based on water cooler conversations and the same video footage available to the public, most believe Officers had little choice but to stop the threat.

Confronted with an unholstered weapon, held by an unknown, and noncompliant suspect, who is given several repetitive simple commands "DROP THE GUN" all feel CMPD officers were within their lawful right to use deadly force.

In the above frame CMPD Officers note the empty ankle holster on his right leg, apparently a gun  held in his right hand, just low/inside his thigh.

Even at the point where Mr. Scott moves out of frame and still in a non threat stance they acted lawfully. A couple officers have said based on rumors, that only when he made a sudden turn (we don't see) did they fire.

Still a few question Mr. Scott's ability to process the commands.

As with so many tragic situations it is a long chain of events as far back as Mr. Scott's arrest and conviction on weapons charges years ago. Even the discussion of TBI has come into play.

Many questions remain, what are yours?

CP's take he does indeed look very confused disoriented, which makes this a very tragic and sad event.

Beyond the shoot, I have no idea how we can move back from the protests and riots, no doubt the election rhetoric and voices out of Washington from The White House and DOJ have something to do with it.

How come it's not on the news that Scott did seven years in Tx for shooting at Cops and fleeing and assaulting Officers??? How come no one is telling that he is a convicted Felon and last I knew Felons could not have a firearm in their possession?? Why doesn't. The black community want to accept any wrong? The Muslim leader said," give us food, give us education and this wouldn't happen!" WHAT! I have had to pay for my education, I have to pay for my food, why should the black community get it for free? I know plenty of black people that struggled to pay for education (like me) and are making it!!! The black community needs to admit wrong. The Police are adding training after training to learn how to bring communities together. there are no black people alive that are slaves. Your great great grandmother maybe but not now. We are slaves of our own ignorance and stupidity. People can only keep you down if YOU let them.

Roberts is throwing King Putney under the bus as expected. But, what does he expect. He went around for months telling people his officers were racist and kissing every groups butt thinking they would be on his side. Turns out they're not! The Q-Dawg mentality will only get you so far King Kerr and now you're reaping the other side of it. Your officers are out on the street with no real leadership from the top since executive staff are all scared and throwing you under the bus to anyone they can, the supposed black leaders (hello cops and barbers) are all calling for your ouster because you semi-attempted to do the right thing and support the officer. But many wonder, where we would be if this good shoot was done by the white officer? Would he already be charged? Case already to the grand jury? Maybe if King Putney had some real police experience at the street level instead of it all being administrative he would have a clue. Worst part is he will be gone and will probably lose out on his supplement and other bennies, but you reap what you sow.

What comes around goes around. I'm glad Putney is getting the turmoil within the department. I wish Monroes black racist self would have gotten some. He saw the wedge that he created within the department. This is why he jumped ship and also had something else lined up. Screw CMPD and Monroe.

I watched the video of the protesters at the Charlotte city council meeting. One said the police forced them onto the interstate otherwise they would not have gone there. Made me wonder what forced them to loot the truck and start a fire.

Now officers speak up and comment on the shoot. Too late for Wes Kerrick. At least the silent ones both times around still have their pensions. So much for dignity.

However, I hope all of you stay safe and return to your families after every shift until retirement.
