Dear Ms. Lennon:
I wanted to write to you to voice my concern about the probability that CMS will not be able to fund middle school sports next year. My daughter, Megan, is a 7th grader at Francis Bradley Middle School and currently plays on the Girls’ basketball team. Megan made making the Bradley team her goal in the 5th grade and she never wavered.
She knew she needed to keep her grades up to play sports and that was all the incentive she needed. She made the A-B Honor Roll this semester…while playing basketball. And the Bradley Basketball and Cheerleading teams have a combined GPA of greater than 3.0.
When Megan hung her report card on the refrigerator last night, she noted that next year she probably would get all C’s because there wouldn’t be any basketball. That saddened me….How many other kids are thinking the same way?
Please reconsider the middle school sports option.

Its sad that your daughter isn’t self motivated enough to want better than C’s on her own and not because of sports.

Cedar's Take: I don't have a dog in this hunt. Never have, as my son attended Union County Schools and Charlotte Latin, but all I can say is WOW! A parent writes you and this is how your respond?

On the left Lennon's school board bio and campaign photo or on the right the recent school board photo. With the understanding that Ms. Lennon is at least 50 I'd guess the one on the right.
Update: Still no reply as of Tuesday morning.

If they are going to treat an adult like that and it is okay, how are they treating the children??!!
RL went off the deep end when her daughter snuck vodka into the uptown party bus on prom night.
RL hung her adult daughter (but under 21) out to dry, even made her write the college to which she had been accepted a letter telling them of this infraction. Why RL can't keep a man in her life is beyond me
Cedar I would be hard pressed to think that a board member would say that to a parent.

With everything that goes on with our local "government" and "boards", you would really be shocked???
She should resign immediately, and the Observer should skewer her ass.
If she is so burned out she responds in that manner to a parent, she needs to go right now.
A "non response" would have been better.
It just shows Lennon's lack of professionalism and the lack of respect she shows for the citizens
is appalling!!
I'd guess see is textbook nut case, bitter, angry, twice divorced and single.
Her use of a photo from twenty year ago more of her unhappyness. Now 50 pounds over weight, men look right through her and who could blame them.
The next headline we read will be she OD'd of some perscription sleeping pill and I for one will be happy to the old "C" word check out.

Come on , leave the personal insults and crap out of this.
It is her response to this parent that is being discussed, not her personal life. And it sounds like you have personal issues of your own, reacting with these insults as you have!
It's clear she has issues.

There isn't much that can be said about this. It was an extremely condescending and insensitive reply two times by Lennon. She should be removed so she can begin a job search elsewhere.
I would call this a solid case for removal from the school board.
I too wonder what her excuse is? Judging from her resume, I doubt she was a stellar honor student at CMS.

Did you ever get a response or confirmation....anything?
Perhaps she thinks if she ignores it, it didn't really happen.
Or if she says, "we just want to put this behind us and go forward"....that seems to be a favorite "spin".
Yep, according to News 36 she stands by her email.
