Ruffles are played on drums, and flourishes are played on bugles. The President of the United States receives four ruffles and flourishes before the playing of "Hail to the Chief." Four ruffles and flourishes is the highest honor.
During the President's visit to Mt. Holly Wednesday they skipped the RF and went straight to a recorded Hail to the Chief. A women swooned and within a hour Barrack Obama was gone. Cost to taxpayers around 3 million.
Hail to The Donald - The Point Lake and Golf Club goes stupid over Donald Trump, although Cedar Posts has to admit his 757's is pretty impressive.
Limbaugh's Flourish Continues - to ruffle critics and advertisers continue to flee. Mark Pellin checks in with WBT and station program director Carl East and tallys up the EIB score, noting that 29 Rush advertisers have pulled out of the show.
Local talk radio station WBT has landed smack in the middle of a national controversy swirling around Rush Limbaugh, the polemical midday talker who has come under fire for calling Georgetown law student and free contraception-on demand advocate Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute.”
But despite receiving hundreds of emails and calls from people threatening to boycott advertisers and demanding that the station drop Limbaugh’s show, which airs weekdays from noon to 3 p.m. on WBT 1110-AM, the station has no plans to alter its programming.
“I know it’s a cliché, but if you don’t like what you’re hearing, change stations,” said WBT Program Director Carl East. “Turn it off, if it makes you feel better. I don’t have a problem with that.”

Flourish of Observer's Reporters Could Ruffle Chief Monroe's Well Feathered Nest - Cedar Posts when out on a limb last week offering that The Charlotte Observer staff was working hard and fast on a in depth piece on CMPD's Rodney Monroe. Well looks like I got that wrong as the week came and went and The Observer remained silent.
Sunshine Week - The Florida Society of Newspaper Editors launched Sunshine Sunday in 2002 in response to efforts by some Florida legislators to create scores of new exemptions to the state's public records law. Since then Sunshine Sunday has grown into an entire week March 11-17, 2012 and the number of states adopting "Sunshine Laws" including North Carolina has grown.
Maybe the Observer will embrace the concept of Sunshine and call out Chief Monroe for darkening the halls of Charlotte's Law Enforcement Center.

The last thing Charlotte needs is Donald Trump.
The whole tour of the plane is stupid, as if we can't tell why The Donald gave a tour to 36 News.
One look at Dianne Gallager's assets and he was hooked. Tight fitting red dress, implants and a hello smile. Sure private jet tour.
She was dif poured into that dress, but her bird stick legs do nothing for me.
One would hope that the story was quashed because they could not in good conscience write a fluff, butt smooching piece when they know what is going on at cmpd and how people feel about him.
Let's hope the media is slipping out from under the repressive thumb of Monroe and is ready to start stating the truth and the facts.
Crime is off the freaking hook, but you will not see those statistics coming from cmpd. Why do you think no notes are being taken any more in Monday morning meetings???
And if it does become apparent, you will hear one lame excuse after the other for it...NO ONE will take any responsibility.
Let's see how they get up there and lie, once again, at their next
"there is no crime dog and pony show" for the media and the gullible public.
And the African American population needs to open their eyes and realize that just because Monroe is African American, does not make him an ethical, honest leader.
Corruption has become cmpd under him.
You will never see any sunshine at cmpd while rodney and medlock are scamming and duping the people of Charlotte.
They operate in the darkness, like all cockroaches.
really well said
all those complicit in the cover up will be exposed, and hopefully prosecuted
I like her getting a one on one with the Donald and a tour to the Trump jet super cool.
