NorthLake Mall Goes South Side Of Chicago On Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve shopping is stressful enough without out a bunch of thugs getting in each other faces at the mal and pulling out guns. But that's just went down this afternoon at Charlotte's NorthLake Malł.

Media reports say an off duty CMPD Officer Working security at the mall shot and killed an 18-year-old man Thursday as hundreds of Christmas Eve shoppers hid and were evacuated from a suburban Charlotte, North Carolina, mall, authorities said.

An off-duty Charlotte-Mecklenburg County police officer working security at Northlake Mall, about 8 miles north of downtown Charlotte, responded to gunfire during an altercation among "a group of subjects who have a history of feuding" about 2 p.m. ET, Police Chief Kerr Putney said early Thursday evening.

The officer, identified as Thomas Ferguson, rushed to the scene of the gunfire inside the mall and encountered 18 year old Daquan Antonio Westbrook. Officer Ferguson apparently asked Westbrook to  drop the weapon, but when the subject pointed the weapon at the Officer, the officer opened fire.

Westbrook was pronounced dead a short time later.

This thug's death can be blamed on Andy Murray and the great folks in our county's criminal justice system. How can someone with so many arrests, many for guns and violence, be walking the streets? He should have been in jail where he belonged, and would have not been a threat to others or himself.
Let's hope the DA chokes on his turkey dinner today. He's the real crook in this scenario.

Good shooting Officer !

The Observer headline is that 'Officer shoots Teen'. Way to paint a totally misleading picture. Shouldn't have expected anything else from the Observer.

At least breaking911 on facebook has video of the charge by the teen and as an added bonus pictures of the end result.

Glad no innocent bystanders or officers were killed or injured as a result of this thugs reckless actions. Great job CMPD!

Andrew Murray and his office dismisses charges for any crime if they don't have an active gang of 20 videographers waiting in court to demonstrate for the guilty verdict. He is a pathetic excuse for a DA and we will keep having the revolving door for criminals and the whining about courts being under-funded while he is in charge of docketing and handling crimes here. He is not the only problem but he is a big part of the problem. What is the point of arresting anyone when judges and DAs release them over and over and over..........................

No accountability in our failing courts. None.

Why don't the PBA and FOP get together and hold a "no confidence" voting on King Putney and present the results to council, city manager and public safety committee? You can ad in a variety of his e-mails to recruiting and what laws not to enforce to Captains and Sergeants. You may have to get to his personal cell phone and e-mail though.

Oh never mind. The balless wonder Walther would never jeopardize his take home car and polo for minions

CMPD didn't even try to give the brother first aid, just kept a gun pointed at him and let him bleed out. Fuck CMPD

Now Now....Poor feller... He was just trying to "Improve his life". Going on a shooting spree at a crowded mall on Christmas Eve was just his way of doing it. Lets dont judge....

0709, really?

Cops know CPR and how to give a defib shock for the most part...that won't fix a torso gunshot wound. Plus, the area wasn't safe because people play possum.

By your statement of "the brother," I'm assuming you're black just like him. Kind of a low bar to set on calling a shoot, isn't it?

Police departments have policies and procedures in place based on past shootings, research, etc to deal with officer and bystander safety, which if you haven't noticed is more important than a gunman's life.

What would you do in this situation, not being a cop, but being just you? Scenario: I start shooting, you shoot me (or hit me with the throwing stars you got in law school). Then what? This isn't a fender bender--we don't just exchange information, say sorry and move on.

Instead, I'm either dead/dying/done or I'm gasping for air and still ready to shoot back at you. If you think I'm still good to go and just need CPR, go ahead. I'll either shoot you at that point--or if I can't reach my gun I'll wait for you to roll me on my back for chest compressions and I'll steal your EBT card out of your wallet while you're busy.

Ya know, because I'm hungry and black lives matter...just not the ones this guy was shooting at.

This society of ours is now a joke. We used to have men and women that woke up, irregardless of color and did their best. Even if they had to overcome racism, bigotry, sexism, class-ism or other forms of adversity, they did it. They made this country great and made their people (including Black people) a group to be respected and reckoned with. These people did what was within their abilities for either themselves and/or for the hope of future generations.

People like you, 0709, and your shooter buddy tear all that down. But it is not your fault, you are still a victim of society. Why? Because after those Black men and women made the real struggle and got the rights they should have had all along through hard work and persevering, young dumb fucks come along and take it for granted, brainwash their children, and perpetuate this "us vs them" mentality which holds your people down. I don't know how old you are, but it's not your grandpa's fault. Hell, he's probably someone I'd like to hang out with. Maybe it's not even your parents' fault. But it is someone's fault. Who is that?

Yes, some Black people get out of this system, and they have all my respect. There are amazing Black people in this world and they have all my respect. Some are up top, but many of my friends are doing the legal hustle at the bottom and the shirt off my back is theirs tomorrow if they need it. You call them uncle toms. But I call you just another crab in the bucket. When one's about to get out, you feel bad and have to pull them down. And when one gets crushed under all the shit you're spewing and having flow to the bottom of the bucket, you blame the guy that made the bucket for having the initiative to do his blue collar job.
