Charlotte Fire Chief Jon Hannan's Slow Walk To The Gallows?

From the Local Paper:

Charlotte Fire Chief Jon Hannan told the city manager last week that he was responsible for a personnel document being released to the media in apparent violation of state law, according to multiple people familiar with the investigation.

The March 4 document was written by Ron Carlee, the city manager, and was about Marty Puckett, the vice president of the Charlotte Firefighters Association Local 660. Carlee warned Puckett that he no longer could work as an unpaid intern for City Council member Claire Fallon and he risked being fired if he continued.

Puckett and Fallon have been harsh critics of the chief, and Fallon previously had called for him to be fired.

The letter is part of Puckett’s personnel file, and isn’t open for public review. Releasing such a document is a misdemeanor under N.C. law. The maximum fine is $500.

Hannan was one of four people who received copies of the Carlee letter to Puckett.

If true, then fine the Chief the $500 penalty and close the matter --- and let's let the fire department get back to business.

Chief needs to go …time to bring in Rodney to clean up the mess that CFD has became.

It is sources close to the investigation who at stating that the Chief told the City Manager he did release the memo. If it's true why hasn't the city manager gone public with that info. Love how people like to believe everything they read or hear from the Liberal Media. If you didn't hear him say it then you have no proof he did.

Agree with Anonymous 1:42pm.

If true, let Hannan pay fine and then get back to work. If not true, then let Carlee make statement to that effect and let Hannan get back to work.

Is Hannan not at work?

I don't know if Hannan is physically at work, but with all the media hype about this issue, I would doubt his mind is 100% on his job.

With the vindictive nature of the individual in question there is no doubt it was done with malice. Ask around, the carnage left along the roadside goes back years. Puckett is just the latest victim. He won't be the last.

So why would Chief Hannan leak the email to WBTV? What could be the benefit? I understand muzzling Puckett and Fallon. And I get it about Crystal Eschert we'll leave that to the courts and hope they pay out the butt. Is it that Hannan is just blinded by rage greed and power like Rodney Monroe?

Chief Hannan has lost what credibility and trust he had left. I think it is time for him and Granger both to leave. They both are bringing dishonor, negativity, and poor moral. They both have brought enough trouble and bad press. Deputy Chief Granger owes his tenure to Hannan. Granger can't survive without his protection and cover. If any of the non-Command Staff pulled half the crap they did, they would have been gone faster than a snow storm in the South.

It looks like the Rob, Ron, Cheryl and Jon Show will be continuing through the Managers tenure. Congrats on another Teflon Team Effort.

Hell has already made the reservation and although the black cat with 10 lives will make another day. He won't escape his maker seeing as he already sold his soul to the devil. Its understandable people will pick sides and that's what our country allows. But I will say as an outsider to all this and seeing how he admitted to breaking the law, I'm puzzled. People break the law and the old adage of "I didn't know", heck kids use that excuse. So next time anyone in Charlotte Government does anything wrong, just say "I didn't know". This is advice should carry over to the Mecklenburg County courts and to all those committing crimes in our city, "I didn't know"

This way everyone gets a second chance and we can all learn and move on, insert "ha" here. The city of charlotte paid out $75,000.00 in a law suit because "he doesn't pay women to have babies". The Charlotte Fire Dept will now have no right to discipline any member of the dept based on what the city just did. Further more the city of charlotte can not discipline any member of the city. If you don't hold management accountable, you sure can't hold anyone else. Carlee can carry his lame duck walk on out the door, just be careful not to get hit by a car crossing the roadway. Reality is that Carlee was fired but he pleaded that they let him resign so he could find another job.

If I were Deputy Chief Dulin. I'd be saying WTF, Jon screwed him and will anyone to save himself. As for the Eschert matter, that's gonna be a court case to follow.

Being a fireman's ex-wife I had a unique perspective over the years to watch this regime from the inside and be involved in conversations with other wives that today more than ever I understand. I don't live in Charlotte anymore and I am glad of it. The backbiting and lying has ruined more marriage, careers and friendships than one could imagine. Just because people stay married don't confuse that with happy marriages. The people that support the type of person have something to hide and are being covered by him, don't fool yourselves. Their kids got hired, they are messing around with another firemans wife, they look the other way when something illegal is going on. The young associate the chief with the Cfd and the older supporters need his cloak of protection that hides their secrets from the world. Jeff did some bad stuff but he didn't deserve what he got. What he was is loyal and that is a one way street when the heat gets turned up. Watch and see.
