If the city can’t manage a pledge fund with thousands of dollars how in the world can we expect they’d be able to manage millions to have enough for 7-8 years of supplement money until 62 and then our pension. Regarding the City supplement, that's tied-in to state law, so there's likely not much they could do about that.

First off I was lucky and left several years ago and got my monies from the pledge. When I signed up it was explained more as a going away type, tax free gift for your fellow officer for making the full ride. I figured hell, you make it, you deserve my $10! Even if you would have contributed the $5 per week every week X 52 weeks per year X 30 years (not counting if you bought military time, had sick time etc. and went earlier) then you paid in $7800. I got $11,100. That's a $3300 difference and all tax free. And no, you would not have seen that type of return putting $5 a week into a savings account or mutual fund even if you averaged on the high side of 11% return per year. It's sad a lot of people got screwed on it for sure.
If you invested $5 a week for 30 years with an 11% rate of return after 30 years you would have $52,964. In order to end up with only $11,089 your rate of return would have to be 5.25%. And who is only getting 5.25%? So, it sounds like you still got screwed out of almost $42,000.
Well if it keeps this pace up we may beat 1993 homicide numbers. Its crazy to think we are going backwards with violent crime. Educating young people and resources that have been put in place over the years to reduce crime. Two and half months left in this fucked year and I think we will see all time numbers.

Cabarrus County is so much more LE friendly than Meck, the courts, Sheriff, jail process, D.A., etc, all are much better.
IDK that leaving to another agency inside Meck County is the best option, it might not be CMPD, but still the same all Meck agencies have the same Arrest process, magistrates, courts, D.A., Sheriff, and a BLM poster at the parking garage.
Head to SC or Georgia. Very friendly and supportive of their cops. Great leadership in most depts also. You will take a pay cut but it's worth it IMOA. I made the move earlier this year and haven't regretted it since.

Third, from what I remember the Amy Stukey video was up in IA before things went digital, so it was on a VHS tape. I incredibly doubt that anyone has that VHS tape on hand. That incident happened before she got fat and its been a while. You would need to do a conversion to move the footage to a website or flash drive.

Gerald Smith was granted an approved leave of absence by JJ, the city manager and council (to be a chief in another city and state of all things). The agreement in place is when JJ retires here in the next few years, Gerald is coming back to be the chief. The leave of absence guarantees him his retirement benefits from NC. Third, from what I remember the Amy Stukey video was up in IA before things went digital, so it was on a VHS tape. I incredibly doubt that anyone has that VHS tape on hand. 9:25, the problem is the double standard here at CMPD. Regular officers have gotten severe days off for letting an F bomb slip in the heat of a call and a citizen complains. Officers held to an almost damn near perfect standard while the brass can take 3 hour lunches, hang out at the LEC and get their nut off while on the clock. Do you see the problem with that? There are 2 sets of rules here and its disgusting. Personally I don't give a shit if someone gets their nut off on the clock, like what's his name in the fuel pizza bathroom... but he was just an officer. Had he had some bars on his collar nothing would've gotten said. For those of you who still have a number of years to go let this settle in and then decide what you will do. The agreement in place is when JJ retires here in the next few years, Gerald is coming back to be the chief. The leave of absence guarantees him his retirement benefits from NC.
