In February 2019, when the woman drove off with her four children, Kendrick Piggie chased her for 30 minutes, ramming her car, brandishing a gun, and threatening to kill her, prosecutors said.
The woman drove to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department division office and informed officers that Piggie had hit her car and had a gun.
Despite being at the police station, prosecutors said Piggie rammed the woman’s car two more times and fired six shots, hitting her car twice.
Piggie tried to escape, but he wrecked his SUV and was captured hiding behind trash bins.
A jury convicted Piggie on November 19 of multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present.
The judge sentenced Piggie to 60 to 84 months in prison and handed down up to another two years on Piggie’s sentence but agreed to suspend it if he completes 36 months of supervised probation.
As of this morning Mr. Piggie remains in the custody of MCSO. It is unclear if he will serve any time in addition to the 25 months he was held before making bail on March 26, 2021.
At trial he was remanded to the MCSO and taken into custody, and it remains unclear if the judge ordered the suspended sentence in lieu an active sentence or if the suspended sentence only applies to the felon with a gun charge and will run consecutively.

Name the Judge!
chikin' samich!
Did it take until late November to get an actual conviction, or does this happen more often than I thought?
If the judge gave this moron probation the judge is the moron. We need to start namimg these idiots!
Probation seems appropriate to me. Heated arguments with a partner are often overblown, and this certainly was. He will have to report regularly to his officer, and if he strikes again, he faces true time behind bars. We can't afford to send everyone who was pushed over the line by a spouse to prison. What we need to do is provide him with counseling, therapy, and an understanding that what he did was wrong, and there will be consequences for the next time he transgresses.
Consequences for his next transgression will be longer probation!
Pledge fund?
3:12 p.m. "heated argument" left when he started SHOOTING AT HER AND ANYONE ELSE IN RANGE OF THE PUBLIC DOWNTOWN SPACE HE SHOT UP. Or could have run over with the car as he tried to do. Did you get that? you are incredibly stupid and probably just as violent and abusive as this guy to say it's okay. Sad that you probably have a badge, too.
2212: No badge here, but I completely understand aggravating circumstances. Over the line, absolutely. Is probation justified, absolutely. Would we want to send this guy to prison, pay for that time, make him a career criminal by ruining his ability to provide, and feel any better about ourselves?
This is the perfect place for social counseling in the form of family therapy. Both sides of this would be well served by having a trained, county provided, counselor to straighten their lives back out. I would never hit my partner. We have way too much respect for each other, and our path to being in a recognized marriage brought us closer together. Earlier in our relationship, yes, we often co-escalated ourselves into violence. Substance abuse also contributed to that. I would not be shocked if that is also not a contributing factor here.
You all need to understand that time behind bars does not reduce recidivism. Counseling, therapy, options, opportunity- those things do, and we as a community should provide that.
Are you one of those violence interrupters? Or just a liberal who knows nothing about the real world?
Counseling is good for certain things but he's one of those idiots that doesn't fear any consequences for his actions! That's the reason he does what he does. I guess the psychology and counseling books don't address that because they know it to be true! He should be beat with a baseball bat every time he acts out.
"You all need to understand that time behind bars does not reduce recidivism. Counseling, therapy, options, opportunity- those things do, and we as a community should provide that." Stop acting like those services are not available. The patient has to want the service and i'm sure he doesn't. Also, anyone could walk into any church, YMCA, police department etc and say I don't like how my life is going, I want to change and I need some help can you tell me where I can get some counseling etc. Someone would try to help them find the appropriate resources. They have to feel their current lifestyle isn't working and want to change. Why don't you do some research, make some flyers with contact info for help and pass them out. If you believe any of what you say then stop preaching to everyone else and do something! What have you done lately to help this situation?
Bottom line. These guys think they're cool and untouchable. Until they are proven wrong about that, they won't seek any services because this lifestyle is working for them. They commit a crime and no consequences. Social media, such as facecensor and censortwit, has created a bunch of narcissistic, liberal brats that expect zero consequences and care nothing for other people. This climate of liberal policies and excessive social media supporting such an attitude, has done a lot of damage. The brats couldn't care less about how much harm they cause to other people. They really believe they're untouchable and society owes them for their presence. While it is sad that they have been allowed to behave this way, it is also terrible and everyone is responsible for their own actions.
10:12am Do you have any concern for the victim that could get murdered by this lunatic? No? I didn't think so. The possibility of this man murdering this young lady in a moment of anger is pretty high. Also, you have no idea what opportunities this man had in his life and just assume there must have been none because he's black? Thats racist and such a liberal narrative these days.
8:24...What f@@king world do you live in? Sounds like you need some Chick-Fil-A!
There are bad people in the world and to solve that problem we build jails and prisons. That's were Mr. Piggie belongs not out on the street, EVER! He can't be rehabilitated. Noggies can't and white violent felons don't need understanding they need prison. Incarceration is the only answer.
This man never needed to seek help if he had a counsellor in middle school or early high school identify his being on the brink emotionally. Yes, he could very well have had every opportunity, and I am sure there are children at Charlotte Latin who have every chance and then some, but are emotionally fragile. They all need an hour a week, one-on-one, with a guidance counsellor. A counsellor who has the authority to call on other agencies for help. You find someone undernourished? Bring in food assistance. Abused at home, have DSS intervene and bring in the family counsellors.
Do you know how many Psychology majors our state universities put out every year? Lets use that knowledge that WE pay for, and foster a community that cares for everyone, not just yourself.
7:24...Most people major in Psychology because it is the easiest degree to get! FYI...DSS is corrupt and worthless, not to mention useless, and who do you think they call to intervene? Popo! What kind of sauce would you like with your nuggets?
7:24...His counseling should be a baseball bat! Would like some waffle fries?
Dr Pugh-Lilly over at DSS would take personal offense to that Psych degree jab. She is among several valued leaders in our group who provide wonderful, yet under-resourced care to Mecklenburg County. We need to replicate the success of the Freedom Drive center with a corresponding center on the old Eastland property, or on Independence somewhere. Having local care close to our recipients is critical to our mission.
.
Not just psych majors, but also Public Policy people as well. If we are proactive, we can keep folks like this within our system, cared for, and understood before some trigger sets them off.
To hear you all on here, you would think that you have never had a relationship argument that went sideways. We do not need to populate our jails with that type of offender when probation and monitoring, along with counseling, can make the world of difference.
Valued? She had better make like a bridge and get over it! You liberal wannabe saviors of the world are the one;s that need counseling! Chikin' samich!
I'm not going to continue with this, but those of us in DSS know that between us and HHS, we are by far the two most superior departments for effectiveness, efficiency, and mission in this county. I think CMS will get there under Supt Winston. I cannot wait until my children walk with pride down the halls of Harding University HS, knowing that it is the best in the county.
People like us make dreams happen. I wish all Meck County employees felt the same.
You are are right, y'all sure are SUPERIOR, but in what is the question? Would you like an order of nuggets?
Case in point: you resource officers could not keep guns out of the schools, so under the wonderful wisdom and leadership of Supt Winston, we have thousands of clear backpacks on the way to bring safety back to CMS.
Honestly, I am hoping that Meck County follows the great leaders of Durham, and attempts to hire unarmed peace officers in place of the hundreds of open positions at CMPD. An honest person with a radio and a heart is better than someone in their hidey hole all day. One day soon, we will see the obstruction lifted, and the true beauty of Charlotte shine through. We are on our way folks.
So much for not continuing, 10:26/4:15. It would appear that you believe you are a very valuable ASSet within DSS. Go investigate something, troll.
Big chikin' samich!
4:15..Well, be on your way then! Take 10:26 with you and Dr Pugh-Lilly over at DSS!
