Apparently There Are Many Things They Don't Teach At The Academy

Like how to wear a traffic vest.

Or that CMPD has a uniform for a reason.

Maybe its my NAVY background.

You know :

Keep your hands out of your pockets.

Proper greeting to everyone you pass.

No one needs to remind me to remove my cover.

My first meeting of then CMPD Chief Rodney Monroe, he was leading the chow line at a charity golf tournament. That impression stuck with me and the last time I saw Rodney Monroe he was leading the chow line at the convention center. 200 Officers and he was "first" in line.

I don't want to send the morale any lower but the next time someone asks for volunteers to stack up and enter a house at 2 am with a felony warrant. Just be sure this guy's hand isn't the one on your shoulder.

My grandfather had some advice on hiring the right people.

Hire a smart intergenic man if you can.

Hire a dumb lazy man if you have to.

Hire a smart but lazy man if you have no other choice.

But God help you if you ever hire an intergenic dumbass!

I hope there is some entertaining back story to this and one more thing...

Let's be careful out there

Update:

Due to nearly a dozen requests:

So send us your best and we'll update this hot mess.

The memes are fire!

Someone please tell me this is not Charlotte's Chief of Police?

What a clown

This is the guy who can't follow basic instructions like "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY" on a Claymore Mine.

Cdfinch said...

I get it. Front towards enemy, however no place does it say "This is the front"!

Anonymous said...

Please tell me they don't let that man anywhere near explosives?

This is why command staff is worried about pants pockets, stripes on uniforms and decals on cars- not the real issue of crime control, staffing, pay & benifits, morale..... Soon, VERY SOON, someone will call 911 with a real need and no police officer will show up.

Defund the Police....?? How about defund the police chief because he obviously doesn't know what he is doing....

Anonymous said...

My 4 year old knows to look for the tag to put it in the back. if there isn't one there, look for the tag on the seam and it is always on the left.

Anonymous said...

Well, that is what happens when your little handler Chickoree is not there to answer questions for you and dress you....

Anonymous said...

People,

Chief Jennings is proof that you can be a total idiot and still get promoted 6 times at CMPD. They can't give the job to a white man or Vicki Foster. There are no external chiefs that would walk into Charlotte for obvious reasons.

Gerald Smith will be the new chief soon enough and we already know that. I have no idea how anyone still comes into work at this place. I really mean it.

Guess which major metropolitan city is considering limits on secondary hours and increased required overtime hours for rank and file? I'll give you two guesses and the first one counts because you don't need the second one do you?

Down we go!

Y'all!...He's just leading by example!

Did Mazz make those memes??? Is he back????!!!!

The city manager liar said that there were many names in the running for the new chief, and Johnny Jennings name kept popping up. He said it was a no brainer decision to hire JJ. Could things get any worse around here?

This shit is small potatoes. Garry McFadden can't even staff his jail and there is a State investigation under way.

I could care less about sweat pants. Guys have been wearing sweatpants to the office for years.

Let the Witch Hunt begin said...

Wonder how big the witch-hunt over the memes will be...??

Any odds on there won't be a policy violation on JJ...??

Anyone....?
Anyone....?

Attorney at large said...

How long will it be before CMPD gets a court order for all the URL's over all the head-idiot-in-charges memes and punishes the posters....

Free speech- not at CMPD....... Violation of "social media policy"... typical do as I say not as I do and get everyone in line....

Anonymous said...

Sadly, I won't be shocked that CMPD will hunt down a memester with court order, yet the judge's records are under lock and key. Charlotte (and most Dem cities) are just an absolute joke.
Luckily WBTV has 3 ways to avoid a carjacking up today...because we know the DA and courts aren't going to help punish anyone jacking cars.

Meme's are hysterical and a wise leader would see them as a reflection of his leadership and make an effort to correct the "perception" that his freaking ass is an idiot.

I know some of you that post here and vent your frustrations. I know JJ isn't the sort of cop you expected to work for much less lead a department of this size.

You wanted George Paton and you got little Johnny working the drive thru at Chick Fil A after school.

I hear you we have Peewee Herman and not General Patton.

Anonymous said...

Nope, Peewee was that little Webster lookalike from Richmond we all had to endure.
Lord, I never thought I would say this, but I miss Medlock.

First of all they are planning on an outside agency to take over the secondary employment for our Officers. They will be charging the employers more money per hour to keep track of it. And guess who in the chain of command has a hand in it? Look it up. If you work off-duty good luck on keeping that job. Second Jennings just did a shake up of Steele Creek because it took to long for an Officer to show at the 10-50. This is example of how he knows very little about how short patrol is and that the call volume is out the roof.

Logic over emotional please when it comes to this job.

Anonymous said...

Steele Creek is huge so it really depends on where you are and where you're going. There are some areas that because of large industrial parks the roads don't go through. You have to come out of one area and then back track to get to. You could drive four miles to take a call 1/2 mile away.

Welcome to Clown Town.

They should have just let him retire….. he was half out the door anyway…

A police chief who doesn't know how to wear a traffic vest and gets butt hurt about it.

A missing County Commissioner who hasn't been seen in person in a year and she's going to get paid anyways.

A taxpayer funded "equity" foundation that hired a director who can't balance her own checkbook and likely will be indicted on some criminal charges.

A sheriff's department that is losing deputies at a rate of one a day.

A school system that insists on forcing kids to wear masks.

The list goes on and on but.....

The common thread these clowns are all liberal nuggets.

Anonymous said...

I love the meme about Executive order 66. That is so true. What is also true is that organizations that suffer from mass turnover are indicators of poor leadership and internal disfunction. If CMPD and MSCO are losing 1 person each week and are already at historically numbers then the evidence would suggest a wrong direction of these agencies.

Anonymous said...

@Feb 8 9:29…. We lost one good officer over meme making. It can happen again

Anonymous said...

Who is the officer that got suspended in Providence?

Anonymous said...

Frapping your noodle in your office is permitted but texting on your personal cellphone a meme of lil Johnny tossing tapioca on Vicki Foster's pancake tits will get you fired.

Pride/vanity is a cardinal sin according to the Catholic Church. Hubris is a word that comes to mind for JJ, which is why he is ONLY worried about appearance (pants pockets on Class B uniforms, piping stripes on Class A’s, decals on cars because MCSO’s cars look better, and why a 50+ year old man has braces).

Jennings is NOT worried about the job that needs to be done by the rank and file grunts, he is not worried about staffing issues (fewer Cops are okay, he will fill the vacancies with civilians who can handle “minor” calls for service- let me know how that works out…), apparently he is not worried about employee retention, or making the workplace more attractive to potential employees which are getting harder and harder to find, but he IS worried about image.

Image does not prevent your home from getting broken into, image does not deter aggressive and reckless driving, Image does not lower the homicide rate, image does not prevent thefts from your businesses…. the list goes on and on.

Mythbusters proved in an episode that you can polish a turd, but at the end of the day it is still a turd.

Jennings needs to be up Spencer Merriweathers’ ass about running the courts and prosecuting cases. Courts have basically been closed for two years (unless you smack your girlfriend, drive drunk or kill someone you haven’t been to court), any guesses as to what will happen to ALL of those cases & citations… they will be gone like a fart in the wind.

Jennings needs to be a LEADER and encourage his employees to continue the good fight in the face of obstacles, and not be on a witch hunt for someone taking a picture of him looking as unprofessional as all get out (and I hear the cameraman was NOT an officer).

JJ get over it and get on with YOUR job, and if you want to talk the talk and walk the walk do it, step out from behind your entourage and LEAD.

And if you get caught looking like you just left a 5-on-5 pick-up game, that is on you and ONLY on YOU.

External vests? Despite numerous studies that show long term health benefits, “I think they are a safety issue” – J Jennings. Jennings has a “pillar” of “employee wellness” but no external carriers because someone can grab on to it- and someone can grab onto a duty belt, holster, the “new” anti-knockoff Body Worn Camera mount, or any number of other things. The REAL reason is that an external vest just does not fit your “professional image”, it would be simpler if Jennings would just say “I just don’t like them” instead of trying to find a scapegoat excuse.

"MEMEGATE" hahahahahahaha

Of all the things a police department has to worry about these days...

Get a life and do your job of fighting crime or refund my city taxes....

Anonymous said...

There are multiple cities that are hiring officers at this moment. If you choose to work here after the Wes Kerrick situation, than you choose to be part of the situation at hand. There is no respect for this place at all. Don't act like you are above the chief when you work here.

Johnny never presented well but the city needed another black face in the city web site to complete the look of a chocolate city. Trouble is Charlotte's population isn't chocolate it is not even close and the crackers have had enough. Pay attention to those who like to say black and Brown people or "people of color" as if the Latinos wanted to be aligned with Black Charlotte. Reckoning is comming.

Anonymous said...

"refund my city taxes" ..... now there is a good one, if the police department isn't going to police and city council is decriminalizing city offenses (read those obnoxious panhandlers) , yeah refund my city taxes too because that is what I am paying for- SERVICE….

I’ll need my tax money so I can use it leave what used to be a good city to live in….

The awakening is beginning.

I am actively looking to leave this shit show. Policing not CMPD personally has deteriorated. Magistrates letting offenders out. DAs dropping legit charges. The public hating police. This is not a career. This is a paycheck until something better comes along. The days of doing good are over. You can be a great proactive officer/detective until that one mistake that one slip up that one minor policy violation then it doesn’t matter what you have done for the department or the community it’s about how you broke policy. This place does not look out for its officers it looks to make an example of mistakes in the interest to kiss ass to the tax payer and make examples into the interest of public trust.

0040, hopefully you are new and just figuring this out. This has been years in the making. The decline has just been accelerated as of recently due to some of the things discussed here and several other factors. I left when I noticed things going south with no hope on the horizon to get back to what I signed up for - law enforcement. The job really cannot be called law enforcement anymore. Anyone who says they can’t leave because they have been a police officer their whole life and don’t know anything else or they are “too close” to retirement is just plain BS. The experience you have as a police officer can be transferred to many different roles in the private sector. As long as you are vested, you keep the money you put in towards retirement. Yes, the supplement will be gone, but you will likely make more in the private sector anyway and if you are wise with your money you will be better off in the long run saving up your own “supplement.” Of course, many are happy to just sit in their hidey hole and “ride it out.” The fact that the Chief of Police cannot even figure out how to correctly put on a v-neck traffic vest with a tag in the back collar really shows a true and very sad reflection of where CMPD is as a whole. I’m not even going there with the sneakers.
