Jeff Jackson a Democrat, who unsuccessfully ran a campaign for US Senate until just a few weeks ago, announced Monday morning that he had filed to fun for congress at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections. There's only one problem. He can't file to run at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections for Congress. It has to be done in Raleigh.
Tweeted Jackson: "Got the kids in the car, drove to the Board of Elections, filed to run for Congress, took 20 photos so one would work, hit up Dunkin’ Donuts, dropped them off at school, now Marisa and I are headed to work."
It didn't take long before Jackson's pretend filing for congress was exposed:
Brett Jensen with WBT News pointed out. "This is misleading. Jackson hasn’t actually filed to run for Congressional District 14 yet. You have to file in Raleigh when running for a federal office. Jackson’s name has yet to appear on the database for those that have filed."
Then Charlotte City Council member chimed with a solid dose of sarcasm, that he was filing on Wednesday at Chick Fil A.
Jeff Hauser added:
"Considering you have to file in Raleigh for Congress, I'm curious how you managed to leave Charlotte, drive to Raleigh to file, drop your kids off at school, and be on your way to work by 9:46am when this tweet was posted? "
WSOC's Joe Bruno who is Charlotte's led reporter on all things political pointed out:
"Mavromatis (with the Meck BOE) says Jackson came into Meck BOE today to get his county board of elections certification. Elections Director Michael Dickerson had to sign the form. Jackson needs to hand deliver it to Raleigh once he officially files."

I’m not surprised that he would shade the truth and add some photos of his wife and kids to add credibility - this is a level of sketchy that has raised the bar for all shady politicians.
But he's a lawyer what else would you expect?

"We’re going to talk about a lot of issues - affordable housing, early childhood education, transportation, climate, gerrymandering, and much more - but I want the core of this campaign to be something you can respect because you see an effort that fundamentally respects you."
Hey Jeff how about we start with honesty? Maybe we should have a "side bar" about truth? You want to "respect" the voters how about don't lie to us.

Jackson is a supporter of BLM and Defund the Police has made questionable claims in the past including that he was Uptown during the George Floyd protests and was a victim of being attacked by CMPD and that they kettled and tear gassed protestors. He's been a frequent critic of CMPD Officers the Mecklenburg County Sheriffs Office and FOP in the past. Certainly not a friend of the guys on the street.

Listen, the GOP has always had image problems. Old fart men who look like Jesse Helms, telling women and anyone else what their place in the world is. That model is dead. Do not hate just because attractive men tend to be Democrats, and women (and men) of all flavors tend to be attracted to them. It is the way of nature.

You GOP folks should have cinched up the judiciary and drawn maps you like and can get passed. This district neutered South Charlotte, Gaston County and many places where there were lots of Trump signs, and is going to be solidly D for a long time.
