On Monday CMPD was proud to point out they had seized a record 413 guns in May and made an arrest of a “serial criminal” accused of breaking into over a dozen cars and stealing firearms.
According to local new media; "Javiere Green, 22, is charged with 14 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, six counts of felony larceny and three counts of possession of a stolen firearm. Police say those are just some of his charges."
What they didn't tell you is that the criminal is already back on Charlotte streets.
Green is accused of breaking into and stealing items from the vehicles of 14 different victims. The incidents happened on May 15 at three different locations.
Police said a victim told officers that he had an Apple Air Tag (GPS device) attached to his stolen book bag. Officers were able to track down the stolen property via the Air Tag, to a residence where Green ran out the back door and sped away in a white sedan.
Officers continued to track the Air Tag still attached to the bookbag and found Green, who was taken into custody. Officers then located six guns belonging to different victims inside the stolen bookbag.

“Please don’t leave firearms in your vehicle,” CMPD said in a press release. “Keep them locked up inside your home and out of reach of children.”
Then CMPD took to twitter to again tell of Green's arrest:

Great work CMPD! Props to the responding officers and those who tracked Green and later arrested him on May 15th, additional props given to detectives and investigators who connected Green to another dozen or so crimes that he was charged with on May 17th.
Green is now facing 40 counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny, Possession of a stolen firearm and other crimes.
But despite this long list of charges, Green was released from the Mecklenburg County Jail on May 20th after posting a minimal bond on the May 15th charges and an "Unsecured bond" on the additional charges.
Of course this is not Green's first rodeo his prior arrests in 2019, 2020 and 2021 for weapons, drugs and B&E have apparently been dismissed by Mecklenburg County DA Spencer Merriweather, and liberal soft of crime judges.
His juvenile record would be sealed.

Green's next court appearance on these charges in in late July.
But why is Green not in prison on the prior charges? Why does the Mecklenburg County DA continue to dismiss charges allowing habitual felons like Green to escape justice?
