Charlotte City Council "Time for a Change"

The current Charlotte City Council has spent the last three years pursuing a "social agenda" that has seen crime surge, riots in the streets, and city services come to a standstill.

Charlotte Democrats offer this crowd as leadership going forward.

Their WOKE agenda has painted BLM murals on Tryon Street and ordered a "no police" Juneteenth celebration on Beatties Ford Road that ended in five deaths.

They've given themselves pay raises and billionaire Michael Jordan more than $275,000,000.00 to renovate his Charlotte Hornets basketball team Spectrum Arena while continuing his lease of only $1.00 per year.

They've renamed Queen City Streets that they alone deemed racist. Are all streets named "Lee" named for the confederate general?

They have pushed density saturation into every neighborhood in Charlotte, with an affordable multi-family housing equity mandate that gives no consideration to the massive traffic jams and bottle necks that they create.

All the while homicides once again are on track for another 100 dead bodies this year, violent crime shows no sign of slowing down, criminals face seldom consequences for their actions and the jail is simply a revolving door.

City services that are poorly run and seldom efficient. Water main breaks, skipped garbage pick-ups, constantly late bus and light rail services, 911 calls placed on hold, once beautiful streets littered with trash, filled with potholes and occupied by panhandlers.

Uptown is a ghost town as COVID closed business remain closed.

Our police department has never seen morale so low and recruitment so difficult.  Gone are the days of 100 applicants for every one opening. Now training classes begin with empty seats.

We desperately need a change and these Charlotte City Council At-Large candidates are our only hope.

If you haven't already voted please do so today. A vote for the above four candidates who will help stop the madness.

Let's add some common sense to Charlotte's City Government.

If you're CMPD and you live in Charlotte get your ass to an early voting pole and vote for these people. If you don't you'll only have yourself to blame!

A great start is also making sure US House NC-14 goes Jeff Jackson. Charlotte needs representation in Washington as well to make certain that the threat to Democracy that was the Trump years, gets rolled into the dustbin of history. We need equal protection laws, a strong supporter of climate action and green jobs, and an advocate for the victims and accused equally.

Imagine a time when Charlotte can lead America's revival with green tech, finance and insurance jobs that are open in access to everyone across the education spectrum, and where POC can leave their homes at night not wondering if their neighborhoods are safe from intruders, or if the dogs guarding the henhouse are really wolves.

Vote Jeff Jackson District 14 in November

LoL 11:17 I'll promise you this I'll vote for Jeff Jackson right after I vote for Braxton Winston.

Speaking of climate action...Did anyone notice how Texas had to appeal to citizens not to charge electric cars and run appliances to reduce outages?

Cedar how many bodies this weekend? Is it four or five?

Most of CMPD lives out of the county at least the smart ones do, those who do live in the city are too lazy to move and even less motivated to vote. Braxton for Mayor!

You know if you don't get off your ass and vote for the Republicans Brax will be Mayor Pro Tem, right? You know this don't you?

Lazy ass Republicans won’t vote. Eff them. We beg our neighbors and friends to vote, but they are too lazy or stupid to even vote. Charlotte is effed—not only because of the evil Hugh McColl brought us, but because Republicans are too stupid and lazy to vote.

And 11:17, that is satire, right? No one can be that effing stupid in real life.

6 homicides over the weekend and what is Charlotte's Mayor Vi Lyles tweeting about "Happy Birthday Bojangles #ItsBoTime" not kidding. Braxton is tweeting about "The exploitation of Brown people" Can't make this shit up.

Out of touch? get out of town!

Mr McColl is possibly the most enlightened leader this city has known, and he definitely laid the groundwork for the Progressive future that Charlotte is living out. I guess the GOP is lazy for not voting, but I also think what we are witnessing in Charlotte is the manifestation of an enlightened era where the political rules of the past are gone forever, and the ways of justice are here for a new era.

Braxton will be a wonderful statewide leader one day. Vi is doing great things. The Hornets may have left without the recent remodel funds. Our airport is world class. Our schools are the envy of the region. Home and property values continue to skyrocket. Businesses continue to pour in. Let's continue to do more of what we are doing, but add in an increase in Social Services and funding for the climate, justice, peace force, mass transportation and the arts.

And while we are at it, can that new HS be named McColl???

816, stop clowning

I saw Bruce Bellamy walking over by the jail in a suit. Maybe he can be the PI for one of those 6 murder cases??

Braxton can't keep his ex-wife or is hoe in line. His ability to manage to do anything but stand and protest is highly doubtful. So unless he starts supporting some common sense ideas he's toast.

Why doesn’t Adrian Johnson. The crime stopper dude work here any longer?

Hi Cedar,

First time poster long time reader.

Where is Charlotte hiding their homeless people since that camp was cleaned up?

Anonymous said...

Cedar correct me if I'm wrong here answering 6:25 PM

Of the homeless that were Uptown in that big camp, many have actually found real housing via crisis assistance, county social services, The Salvation Army men's shelter and other sources. A few linger about in scattered sites others have dispersed across the area. There are some who have just made this a lifestyle choice.

Anyone else care to answer?

Good grief, all you have to do is look around, and there's a tent or shelter in most areas of this town. More or less every exit on 77 from uptown to Westinghouse has a population under the bridge, or in the surrounding woods. There is a massive camp of them in a wooded lot on Hwy 21 just south of Carowinds. 77/Nations Ford exit, I'm guessing every one of those motel rooms is taken by someone with less than a permanent address.

Has anyone seen one of the convenience stations the Eagle Scout made yet?

Anonymous said...

Yeah no. They didn’t go anywhere except to every wooded area in the county. Find some woods & take a peek & there’s a homeless camp. Problem didn’t get solved, just dispersed.

It’s only gone until the fall!! Once that greenery is gone they will be in sight.

I think Cedar once posted photos of the homeless camp on Dee Dee Harris' property that once was supposed to be a Saxs Five Avenue store and mall. I see them slipping under the fence near Quail Hollow. Kind of funny a gated homeless camp.

Yes there is a fairly large group of around 20 at Quail Corners. My wife and kids ask for the old bakery items at Harris Teeter and take them over about once a week. They used to take day old (or maybe 2) chips from Salsaritas, but the folks there said they were too stale. My daughters club a SMHS makes feminine bags for the women who are over there. Yes, homelessness is everywhere, even in the shadows of our most fortunate residents.

These people have embraced this lifestyle of drugs homelessness and mental illness which all run hand and hand. You never hear about dozen or so each year who are called in as we like to say DIP's (Dead in the park).

Vi Lyles is more concerned about renaming streets. Funny how Stonewall remains.

Anonymous said...

Stonewall is going to remain as it signifies the beginning of the Pride movement with the Stonewall riots in 1969 NYC. See, all you have to do is change the story, and it fits the current breezy PC ways.

I am working on the acceptance of Lee as the gender neutral variant of the formerly Leigh or Lea, but that one may take more work.

10:41 that's classic!

8:27 How is that helping the people I believe you want to help?
It's enabling them to continue fooling themselves that living like unsheltered creatures should be an option for fellow human beings.
What are the REASONS they are lying down on dirt with no security, no food, no health care, no care of any kind every day instead of getting a life together?
There are financial programs, health care programs, food stamps, drug rehab, rent assistance, clothing, job training to be accessed and our government does a great job of taxing everyone to pay for it but a piss poor job of organizing and providing the services. Please find out what they are and give that information out along with a meal and toiletries and talk to people to find out their specific needs. Encourage them to get the help they need. Stale chips don't help. They just push survival a little longer.
