This Twitter Rant is typical of the "Cop Hate" I see daily. Totally uncalled for, yet it is endless.
The daily rants around how poorly CMPD Officers direct traffic at Panthers games, or whining about units parked in bike lanes, then there's the crying about response time or rage about dual motorcycle cops chasing little thug, its endless.
Show some respect people its a tough job even more so when you're short staffed.
And this should become a classic:
Apparently Sgt. Chris Matlock from Steele Creek Division and @CMPD have different interpretations of what it means to hit a car & leave a scene. Leaving the scene has to be a certain distance & a certain elapsed time, which, of course he didn’t say what those were when I asked.
This is exactly why ppl do not have good relationships w/the police. It doesn’t matter that my car was hit & the driver left the scene. It doesn’t matter that I had to chase her a mile away from where it happened. It doesn’t matter that she put me, herself, & the other drivers +
On that road in danger when she decided to drive highway speeds on a street where the speed limit was 35. What matters is that she’s white, was “scared” & her mama showed up. The accident happened right in front of the school. In a well lit area.
The incident report states “hit & run”. So how is it now that I want to pursue charges it’s not a hit & run because she didn’t “technically” leave the scene bc we were still on the same street? Is the scene not where the accident occurs? Not a mile down the road.
Sgt also says the girl could have left & drove all the way home & it’s okay. Still not a hit & run. He then proceeds to say she’s an inexperienced driver (17) & I have more driving experience than her. What exactly does then mean? She had enough experience to leave the scene.
The way this whole incident has been handled by the police is disappointing at best. That’s why ppl don’t trust them. Protect & serve who? Everyone has a choice. I’m supposed to accept what happened bc she’s “inexperienced” - well she shouldn’t be driving.
White girl hits black man’s car & leaves the scene when it’s clearly in the NC statues that you have to stop - nothing happens. It doesn’t matter that several people were put in danger. Not even a citation. The privilege is loud. And gross. And sickening.

It was totally within the law. And even if it wasn't as a Dad I'd not have a problem with my daughter going that route given the driver and his attitude says she made the right decision.
PS. I'm pretty sure that's not the guy who posted this rant on Twitter. I could be wron tho.

DAs drop all misdemeanor hit and run cases if the other party has insurance. No charges of hit and run lead to conviction. Therefore all reasonable cops make them regular 50s if the other party if found in a short timeframe.
They just saved him a 100% wasted day at court. But hey make it about race even though this is SOP in general for everyone.

1:59, 2:53...If it would have been a "homey" or "baby momma" then there would have been additional charges...DWLR, Possession of Marijuana, Paraphernalia, Firearm by a Felon, Resist, etc. or more likely an FTA for DWLR or possession of weed.

Given the number of "real' hit and runs some white 16 year old driving on to her house a mile down the road seems reasonable considering she was hit a nugget. Make that angry nugget.
So how is it that these cases take so long to come to trial? Based on just a quick look this thugs all have pending charges that won't get to trail until 2023. Meaning these arrests won't get to a conviction and sentence until 2025!
