Wendy's (Back in the Day)

The recent news of a franchisee of Wendy's seeking bankruptcy protection kinda hits home.

Years ago my parents decided to build a large addition to their house in South Charlotte. 

Ray Terry was the contractor. He was a well known and well liked builder/handyman. 

As a kid having your house dismantled and rebuilt in the middle of the summer was the coolest thing you could ever experience. Dump trucks, backhoes and forklifts, myself and my brothers were absolutely in the way. 

Long about lunchtime Ray offers to go get lunch for everyone, us kids included at this "new place" on Independence across the street from what is now Hendrick Auto Charlotte. 

My mom hands him a couple 20s and he's off. Nearly an hour later roars back up the driveway in his Ford 250 with a dozen Wendy's Hamburgers, Fries and Cokes, and a Frosty for everyone. 

First Wendy's I ever had and it was awesome!

Over the year the quality of the food and staff has declined to the point of being abysmal.  I haven't had one in at least a year or more.
