Chief Monroe Slips Up!

Monroe declined to comment after the City Council voted not to look into the Marcus Jackson file, at least that is what the Charlotte Observer is reporting:

"He left the Government Center immediately and walked to police headquarters two blocks away. Asked by reporters if he had any comment, he said no as he stepped into an elevator."

But back up just a second. After the vote that put a lid on Marcus Jackson's file, Chief Monroe quickly left the meeting and walked two blocks to CMPD headquarters. Along the way several reports peppered him with questions not just the Charlotte Observer.

From WFAE:

As he was leaving, WFAE asked him if he played a role in reducing any of Jackson's suspensions. He said, "None, none whatsoever."

Listen to Chief Monroe's short response and Lisa Miller's entire report here.

Did the Chief Monroe just admit that Jackson's suspensions were reduced? Was this a slip up? Or just a little bit of confusion?

Remember law enforcement personnel are well trained on how to answer questions during testimony during a criminal trial. Officers know accurately answering questions is imperative.

CP, I love everything you do and thing RoMo is no good. But I must disagree with your last comment that law enforcement officers are well trained to answer questions and testify in criminal trials. After trials, jurors frequently say that they think otherwise and often acquit defendants citing officer stories that don't add up and don't seem believeable. CMPD puts no focus on training its officers for the courtroom -- a crucial skill to ensure convictions. Arrest is enough for RoMo and the dept has bought this philosophy. Unfortunate for those who want to see felony convictions.

Just a touch of sarcasm. But surely the Chief understood the question?

Well, I will have to say that of all the people that work at CMPD, and the ones that I talk to personally, rodney monroe is the one I LEAST believe.

He has shown what an accomplished liar he is, over and over and over again, so why should it come as a surprise that he did not answer Lisa's question honestly? If he had nothing to hide, he WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BACK ROOM POLITICING ALL WEEK LONG TO CONVINCE CITY COUNCIL NOT TO OPEN THE FILES. He could care less about a fair trial or Jackson's privacy...just take a look at the statements he made to the media directly after all this crap hit the fan. Does that look like a man who is worried about anyone getting a "fair" trial....get real, folks.

And he can lie now with impunity, as Cowards Council has chosen to, "not get involved" and let Curt and rodney handle everything. And there is no one to dispute him, if anyone in IA disputes him, and they KNOW he is lying, he will have them fired. City Council has washed their hands of the whole slimey mess.

So once again, CITY COUNCIL HAS SHOWN THAT THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO OVERSIGHT OR ACCOUNTABLE 'CHAIN OF COMMAND' IN THE CITY GOVERNMENT. MUCH AS WITH HARRY JONES.

NO ACCOUNTABILITY .....THAT'S ALWAYS A GOOD WAY TO RUN ANYTHING.

What a blatant shirking of their responsibilities. I guess we know the buck does NOT stop with them.
