CMPD Officer Charged With DWI

Follow up to the tweets from Monday regarding the arrest of a CMPD Officer for DWI:

The CMPD Officer arrested for DWI in Cabarrus County last Saturday morning turns out to be none other than University Division traffic ticket writing machine Beatrice Andres.

She was stopped along Highway 49 near Blackwelder Road around 4AM and blew a .09.

According to WCNC News she has been placed on administrative leave pending a departmental investigation. Andres has been with the department since September of 2007 and is a member of the 153rd Recruit Class graduating in May 2008.

Cedar's Take: If you drink even the first beer and drive you are an idiot and should be fired. Period.

Beyond that, we need a zero tolerance law. Call it the "If you put the bottle to your lips you can't drive" law. It will eliminate the excuse of "I didn't think I was drunk". Asking someone who is drunk to know if they are just buzzed or beyond the legal limit is crazy.

Look at the number of DWI arrests every weekend and calculate the expense of rounding these people up. Then calculate the number of lives lost every year in North and South Carolina. It is insane that we continue to fight this battle.

Finally WCNC should re-think the way they present news. Saying on air "She was stopped .....and blew a .09, which is just over the .08 legal limit." In an attempt to minimize the crime is just all kinds of wrong.

Cedar what is wrong with have a few drinks and driving home?

A no drink no drive law would never become law the F+B businesses would vote it down.

I see that it has gotten to the point that CMPD officers think they are above the law. That they can do whatever they want and not be held accountable. All Law Enforcement Officers are held to a higher standard due to the position in which they hold. No matter if she blew a .08 or .09 doesnt matter. She was breaking the law and deserves to be fired.

Don't expect to see this officer fired. A metro division officer was arrested for DUI and assault (or something to that effect involving an ex) a few years ago up by Lake Norman. This officer is still on duty to this day. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy and seems to be a good officer. Still, I have to wonder what strings were pulled to either drop the charges or keep him on staff if they were not. I am unsure what ever happened with the charges - thanks to our lax local media.

Countries such as China and Thailand have gone to the extreme in punishing drunk drivers. In China, first time DWI offenders are carted off and executed by a firing squad. In Thailand, at least they are a little more lenient, as DWI offenders are only executed after they have committed their second DWI offence

Wow! Only a month after falsely accusing another officer of ADW she goes and does this? I guess she was celebrating cheating the city out of a months worth of workers comp and got carried away...

Is this a "Rodney" hire?

Does she have any other Disciplinary Actions?

Yeah, its funny how things like this happen and you are allowed to remain employed. I guess you could even commit a homicide while being off duty CMPD and you still would be employed. Plus the charge would be reduced from a (F) to a (M), thanks to the great Mecklenburg County DA's. Once the story is out there, the great news reporters don't keep up with the story. Hopefully Cedar will for those inquiring minds who like to know Februarys outcome.

Yes, she is a Rodney hire. Plus that blog about her being the ticket writing machine is a big joke. She writes GREEN TICKETS, not the ones which really count. And if she got one that really counts it was by sheer luck.

no she is not a rodney hire. she was hired before he arrived

This is a typical rookie that gets their heads blown up my chain of command before they get anything done on the job. She is ineffective on the street.stays busy on green tickets while other officers are picking up her slack on hot calls.

I wonder if any reporters folks drink and drive? Ask Mr. Delano. And yes they do hire puppets. Pull those strings boss man

Law Enforcement was busy in Concord this past weekend. Our old friend Nick Mackey was also arrested for DWI.

It will be interesting to follow the progression of both cases through the court system and see which, if, either are given any special consideration through the court system?

SHP doesn't cut CMPD officers any slack. Cab County normally would let her slide call someone so she must have been a total bitch.

Well, I guess she will be going to Cornelius or Huntersville now. they love green tickets. They love screwing with everyone except those that deserve it. Everyone in Huntersville in a certain neighborhood that parked his vehicle on a sidewalk received a ticket at 0300 in the morning. But once a Huntersville officer moved into the neighborhood the ticekts stopped. Wonder why..Jackass!!!Rookies!!! Cornelius writes tickets that they know will not stand up in court. Its a dam numbers game and who can look the best..They probably never had their asses whipped except by their mama so they dont know what life is really all about or who will cover their back in times of need!!!!!And that goes for Ms. CMPD officer

Sounds like the 3rd shift boyz don't like this girl too much. I suggest you give her a lot of rope she'll hang herself if not now later.

I would think MADD would be all over this one and Mackey as well.

Though Mackey was smart enough to refuse the breathlizer.

How about the Officer that was arrested for assault in Mass.? Heavy drinking involved there, too....and not for the first time, I hear.

These two things will dissappear into the dark bowels of IA.

So, which was it?

Losers.

Thats good to know about her with the hot calls. I bet she wasn't like to much in what district she was assigned in. I'm really surprised there hasn't been any officers injured or killed because of her.

Its about time and I was surprised she was able to stay on this long. After the beat down she gave the lesbian lover the beat down after breaking into a residence. They must have had a lot of more stuff on her. I wonder which one it was. Did she resign? Or was she really terminated?

Hey Cedar. Are you able to find a picture of this officer which was arrested for DWI? If you can find one plese post it here. I think every officer with CMPD that has a rectal cranial inversion. Basically their head shoved up their ass, should have a pic of them posted on the blog which gets started about them.

Cedar,

Are you able to find any updated information on this officer if she is still employed with CMPD?
