City Leaders Write Million Dollar Check To Crystal Eschert

It's finally official, the City of Charlotte City will pay $1,135,100.27 to Crystal Eschert, which includes back pay, compensatory damages and Eschert's attorney fees.

The total cost of the Charlotte Fire Department's experiment as Facebook police won't be known for some time but it is expected to exceed $2.5 million. Don't worry they have plenty of your tax dollars to burn.

More about this crazy waste of taxpayer money shortly.

It would be very nice if this lady has and listens to some good very basic investing advice for her share of the cash. Instead of spending it all and not letting everyone she ever knew pick her pocket.

My own suggestion is an online discount brokerage; then divide her money evenly [by dollar amount] among the better dividend achievers and dividend champions. Read in the forum Seeking Alpha. At least $1000 per company; not more than $100, 000 per company. At least 20 companies; up to 200 companies. Maybe an Investment Trust. There are tax considerations for doing it no matter what is decided. Pay taxes up front. Much easier than trying to find a way to pay later.

She needs to consider every penny as sacred. And she owes nothing to anybody. Or she will be dead broke in a week and laughed at forever. There ain't no easy way.

Way to stand up for yourself Ms Eschert.

Nobody pays that amount of money and can try and still claim we did nothing wrong. Oh wait, meet the City of Charlotte. The only smart person in this was the one that said let’s end it. Reality is they should have listened to her and city council Claire Fallon. They could have saved us all $1.9 million. Least my tax dollars went to someone that deserves it. That young woman is a tough cookie taking on the establishment.

Great job to Rich Linda and Paul Havery!

City of Charlotte and several of its attorneys should be investigated for criminal conduct. And District Attorney Andrew Murray knows what has been happening and has allowed it when he is supposed to be enforcing the laws here. No wonder Trump nominated him to be US Attorney.

Took the ass clown circus long enough! Almost time for a new peanut gallery to take place.

The young lady needs to engage a competent tax accountant/advisor, since the entire $ settlement amount (including the $ award paid direct to her attorney) will have to be reported as "income" on her 2017 tax return --- and both the IRS and NC Dept of Revenue are waiting to collect their share !!
