If someone asked you, how many hit and run accidents happen on an average day in Charlotte you'd probably say 1 or maybe 2, or if you were really a pessimist you'd say five and you'd be wrong.
Between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon there were 22 hit and run accidents. Some just fender-benders, others were pretty serious accidents.

Above: A hit and run accident at Pineville-Matthews Road and Arboretum View that occurred on Wednesday June 22, 2022 around 1.50 p.m. The collision resulted in serious injury to the driver of this truck. The debris trail continued west bound on Pineville - Matthews Road until Strawberry Lane were the suspect vehicle finally lost its bumper that came to rest in a homeowners front yard.
According to CMPD the tag was reported stolen.

Victimless crimes. Your uninsured motorist coverage is for this reason. If the police were softer in their approach, people wouldn't be fleeing every time there is a chance that the police need to be called.
Why do we even need police on a motor vehicle wreck? Exchange info and move on. The no fault policies back home sure helped drive a lot of the exorbitant ambulance chasing out of the business. No need to sue someone if it's coming out of the policy you are responsible for.
Sorry 9:30 your misinformed. The people fleeing these accidents are criminals. The fact that they are driving without insurance is not a victimless crime. Because these people do not pay for insurance everyone of us who do has to pick up the slack. I'm fine with civilian accident teams working these calls for service. But the ones who are running are criminals and they will be running even if cops offered chick-fil-a sandwiches.

You guys need to lobby Raleigh to get out of the pockets of the insurance racket, and make NC a no fault state. The insurance companies are taking you for a ride because the state cannot enforce the laws it sets (meaning it underfunds enforcement by a mile). I don't blame them, if you gave Meck County $100 to enforce traffic, they're going to spend $300 on something other than basic traffic enforcement.

Those hit and run numbers are probably close to correct, but the blame needs to be pointed at the right persons- that nit-wit Spencer Merriweather and crew who continue / dismiss cases because they are “non-violent”- and the District Attorney’s office in turn blames “liberal” judges.
How many citations issued by CMPD ever see the inside of a trial courtroom??
